Hi.

I have managed to generate DVD-R's that will play on some players but unfortunately not mine. The main purpose for my writer is to backup my DVD collection (my son has a habit of biting the disks).

I purchased a test disk from a local conversion company which plays fine on my Sony DVP-S535 home DVD player. When I use smart ripper, etc and burn the resulting images using Nero 5.5.8.0 (i think) it is unplayable in my machine. The DVD-R media is the same as the test disk.

I then downloaded the trial of ulead DVD MovieFactory and burned some random mpegs onto a DVD-r. This will play in my home player.

I am at a loss as to what to do now (appart from buy a DVD-RW for testing purposes as it is getting expensive destroying DVD-R's)

I am going to try DVDGear demo, etc to see if they help.

Any input into this would be appreciated.

Oh one other thing, you can see the burn points on the disk burnt with ulead but not on the disk done with Nero, could it be some sort of high power burning mode that Nero is not utilizing?

Just to let you guys know. It appears that although Nero is great for burning CD's it is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard when burning DVD's.

I created an img file using ifoedit and then burned it with DVDdecryptor. If they had been under 4.7GB then I would just use DVD decryptor to do it in one foul swoop.

Now does anyone know how to create new menus for VOB files?

I use InstantDisc from

http://www.vob.de

You can download a full working 30-day trial
from the web and then unlock for $49.

It will write a lot of different formats (CD-R, DVD, Audio, etc..)
