I bought a wireless NetGear router last week because my dad hates cables running around the house. I installed it prpperly and it is working fine, both mine and my dad's.

The problem i have is that even tough i can browse and download, now i cannot sign in at some programs like MSN Messenger. When i try to sign in, it tells me that the service is busy. But when i check the service status, it tells me it is that all systems are stable and running.

My router is- NetGear DG834G
My Dongle is- Belkin 802.11G
My connection is Broadband 512Mb.

If anyone has got an answer i would appreciate.
Thank you.

Mine used to do that all the time, if you look in the network connections it shows as connected but running at something like 1mb, the way i got around it was by changing the channel the router was sending out its wireless on.

How do i do that mate? What do you mean by channel?
I am a bit new to these router things... You mean the dongle? I was told it's one of the best you could get... And the router is also supposed to be a good one...

The fact is since i went wireless, i could swear my net is slower all round, browsing, downloading etc... I installed it according to the manuals (in whitch case the NetGear was a bit disapointing) so i know they're working fine, in terms of settings, again there's not a lot to tweek...

by that i mean go into the webpage that the router is on unusally 10.0.0.1 or 192.168.0.1 or something like that, and change the channel that the wireless is on hopefully that makes sense.

I got another problem with this router. Both mine and my dad's pc are connected to this router wirelessly. But today i lost the connection on my dad's pc!

Last time it was pretty straight forward to link it up. Mine was linked through network cable for the setup, then i linked my dad's to mine wirelessly and through to the net. So when i disconnected the network cable the whole system was wireless.

It was working fine. Today, for some reason i lost the connection on my dad's pc... The connection to my pc is still there, but i just can't get it to connect to the net. I have tried the same procedure i used before but for some reason it isn't working! How can i get the connection back up?

Any idea?

Thanks Creaky, wireless is also fairly new to me altough i normally manage these things quite well... Cabled i mean!

It doesn't help having all the kids running around you when you're trying to do a bit of networking...

I'll see what i can do.

Happy New Year to you too mate.
