ps mine is on kitchen table right now. Im hiding as many wires as i can till everything gets here. I just need the drives, and vid card to finish er off.

The extra gig ram actually just aids in game load time. The 4 drives i have will be put in a raid array, to esentialy give me 12gbs. transfer bandwidth. This sucker is gonna sream speed.

your cpu:

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ClawHammer 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3500ASBOX - Retail
(limit 10 per customer)

64 bit Support: Yes
Cooling Device: Heatsink and Fan
Hyper-Transport Support: Yes
L1 Cache: 64KB+64KB
L2 Cache: 512KB

Mine:

AMD
Series Athlon 64 X2
Model ADA4400CDBOX
CPU Socket Type
CPU Socket Type Socket 939
Tech Spec
Core Toledo
Name Athlon 64 X2 4400+
Operating Frequency 2.2GHz
FSB 1GHz
L1 Cache 128KB+128KB
L2 Cache 2 x 1MB

Those are the next most important #'s in the cpu buisness. The cache is what gives the CPU the overhead to pre-fetch, pre-calculate, pre just about anything. Ive never understood why you have to buy a faster cpu to get the higher memory. Seems like they would sell a hell of alot more chips if they offered differant caches for each chip.

I'm having a hard time finding the costs on tigerdirect.com of my parts to see if there is a better cost. I've typed the search but can't find some of the parts like my motherboard processor/cpu

The xfx card is built with a fast clock speed, and supports 2.0 glide. The other card is basically a stock card. The reviews look good, but be aware that the newer xfx cards are having problems that are not being solved by the manufacture in a timely fashion. If the card works, which i think it will judging by the reviews, then the xfx is the card u want.

Back to the cpu. i know the sticker shock is hellabad on my cpu, but that cpu will take me at least a year, before i even think about overclocking anything on computer. If i were you, id wait till i had the extra change to get the better cpu. There are lotsa places you can skimp when building a system, but the cpu will remind you how much you skimped every time you use it.

I gave up on getting my BFG 7800gtx oc512 mb card, as its never in stock. Settled on the BFG 7800 GTX 128 mb version. I should get a seriously good jump on building my sytem this weekend.

Why is it better to get a 1gb of ram instead of a 2X512mb? I mean would having more than 2gb be useful?

Here's an update. I decided to get the 1gb ram instead of the 2X512mb one corsair cuz there's only 1 $ difference. If any of you thinks it's a bad idea tell me...

The CPU
AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego 1GHz FSB Socket 939 Processor Model ADA3700BNBOX - Retail
Model #: ADA3700BNBOX
Item #: N82E16819103539 (223$) I invested 20$ more for it.

Video
XFX PVT42GUAD7 Geforce 6800GS 256MB GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail (195$) Because the other video card sold out.

DVD Burner
NEC Black IDE/ATAPI DVD Burner Model ND-3550A - OEM
Model #: ND-3550A BK OEM
Item #: N82E16827152058 (39$)

Tell me what you think...I don't think I can invest any more money...i'm flat at 1030$ right now...

About the ram. I changed it back to a 512mbX2 because the dual thing is supposedly better than the normal 1gb. Also the 1 gb is 15% slower performance. Correct me if I'm wrong...

Also I got this 17 inch moniter. Are there better ones or specs for about the same price? (has mail in rebate)
