This has been asked and answered many times... some if not most people prefer to use the mds file as it acts as a cue file and tells the burner how to burn the iso properly. Other people, myself included prefer to use another program for the burn and use the iso file.
By the way, I noticed that Quote: I've tried burning both @ 1x and both(iso & mds) seem to work ok
You didn't mention the media's speed you are using, but unless you are using 2x certified media, you may want to increase your burn speed a bit.. I use 4x on 8x media.
hope that helped

Horrible, Yuk!, Memorex is one of the baddest media to use with PS2 Games, just use them for your dvd backups, use Taiyo Yuden's or Ritek disc, there pretty good

Yeah, as 3dluis said, memorex suck... especially the 16x, get some better media and I can almost guarantee that you will not have many problems in the future if any at all!!
It's up to you though, we're just trying to save you problams in the future with your discs.
good luck

agree, agree, agree
Memorex just suck, and 16X speed isn't that great either
Get another brand, DVD-R 8X speed.
Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim Datalife, Ritek, Philips
those are some of the more popular one's
I have also heard good things about Maxcell

How come, with all the posts we have on this forum about how bad memorex, imation and cmc mag discs... we still have people that use them and wonder why their games don't work?
I'm not having a go at you toeknee, just stating a fact that this sort of thing has been asked and answered many many times before.
We need a sticky that says something like "Only use these discs for PS2 backups" ... even though we have one that says Quote: The OFFICIAL best media thread - FOR GOD's SAKE NOOBS LOOK HERE FIRST!!!!!!
