Yes, pretty sure it'll play in most dvd players if not all... also you could set the booktype to dvd-rom to make it more compatible.

Not all Standalone DVD players can handle DVD+R DL , even with the booksetting/booktype trick. as far as changing DVD+R booktype, thought +R couldnt be changed? Or is that -R that cant be changed?

Anyway, check with your player's manual to see what types of media it'll play. also, try looking at Videohelp.com, they have a huge database of dvdplayers and reviews. Excellent for finding out if your player will handle certain types of media

Yes, it's DVD-R that you can't booktype.. that's why I said he could booktype the DVD+R DL.
MOST dvd players will play the DL discs if they're booktyped.

Commercial dvd movies are booktyped to dvd rom. That's why they play in almost every player.

Gamer2478: What's the brand name and model# of your dvd-rw drive?

Booktyped DL backups would have a higher compatability rate for stand alones. Not all burners can booktype.Tell us your model# and we'll let you know if yours has this ability.
