I just burned my 1st DL dvd's and would like somebody to post a scan of one of their DL burns for comparison. I don't really know what to expect from a scan of a DL dvd since mine didn't scan out as good as my scans with single layor media. This burn was at 2.4x with imgburn on a verbatum 6x dvd+r DL disc booktyped dvd-rom. There are no problems with playback on my set-top dvd player. Anybody?

No comparison from me, my drive and Nero CD/DVD Speed do not get along. However, I take it this is the RB DL disk. It looks really, really fine buddy.........Job Well Done.

Hi arniebear,

I thought you got you a benq 1640 so you could use Nero scan disc. Maybe I'm confusing you with somebody else. BTW ya this was the project I was doing useing rb/cce. Thanks for the complement.

@Mort

I did get a BenQ 1620 except as soon as it got here, it when in the wifes comp, she figured since she was getting my old Dell PC she wanted the new drive. So I got the HP 640C in my new Dell which is really a rebadged BenQ anyway. But for some reason Nero CD/DVD speed will not work on either of my Dells don't know why but they never have, all I get is sense key error and then the drive won't read anything til I reboot. Both comps run fine and burn anything and I do not have a problem with any other program but that one. So if I want a scan I use the Plex, no problem with that one, or the scans.

@Mort......your scan shows a quality of 94! That's a pretty good burn! who cares about the scans unless there is something wrong with your disk and you said it's fine. I have scans on movies that I did with quality of 99 but I can't show you because I don't have an imagine site that wont' cost me money! My scans are of DVD-5s, but I do have some Verbatim DVD+Rs, DL that I could scan. I can send you by email if you like..........

Good scan still I doubt why my Imation (Ricoh Japan) got better than the mitsubishi Kagakaku Media even at a higher read rate, still a good scan so dont worry, and no no problems about playback here is my scan.

here is the link in case there is a problem http://img418.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dvdrdlresults2up.jpg

IHoe,

I use photobucket which also has a freeware vs http://www.photobucket.com/

I'm not really concerned about my scan (quality score of 94 is pretty good) and playback on all my DL dvd's have been flawlees it's just that I am used to quality scores of 97 or 98 on dvd5's. After looking around on cd freaks I noticed that my scans are pretty typical of DL media and better than a lot of them. Thanks.

My first post here after following these forums for a long while.
Anyway, it doesnt look too bad. My own burns on the same media are at least a 97. Just finished burning a disk and got PIE max 47 PIF max 2, quality score 99. Using NEC 3540A.
If you want I can e-mail you the test.

@mort

once i get my desktop rebuilt, i'll post up all the scans on DL media you want~ :) i fried my mobo and blew out my psu few weeks ago and have been waiting for my new parts to arrive...slow a$$ shipping due to the holiday season...been using my laptop burner as of late but the scans are very inconsistent just like my desktop pioneer burner...and since it's only a 4x burner, it takes FOREVER to scan...it tops out @ 2.4x read speed...simply ridiculous...

btw, i PMed u earlier, juss an update :)

but, your scan on the Verb DL is pretty darn good...my previous scans were between 94-98 on my Verbs DL and a consistent 90-95 on my Ritek Ridata DLs...

but, until i get my desktop rebuilt, can't scan for $hit at this point...laptop drives REALLY need improvement...always 1/2 rated burn speed and read speed is poor too, well, at least on MY Dell laptop it is...LOL ~ :)

dr_no,

I'm not contradicting you but the quality score is achieved by the number of PO failures and if you notice your scan results show PO failures as n/a. Apparently Nero disc quality scan will not register PO failures when used with a NEC drive.

Mort,
I've got you, about the PO failures, but still registered as 100 because it had no PIF failures. Now if I'm wrong, I will stand corrected.

dr_no,

Thats outstanding and I solute you as I can not achieve that good of score even with quality DVD5 media. Out of the 3 DL dvd's I have burned 94 is the best so far. The other 2 were 93.
