Just thought I'd let you guys know that there's a PS2 memory card utility program here http://www.alucard.cc/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=getit&lid=1514

It works by downloading that rar file, extract it to a folder.. then burn the cue file using nero or whatever to cd. Then put in your corrupted mem card, load the swap magic cd and then the utility disc you created.

Works great!!!... I would have done this before now but I only just found my old memory card that I thought was beyond repair and chucked in the attic long ago.

hope that helps someone :)

cool, no worries.. I think it should work hursty. It's basically booting up like ps2 game, but utility instead.

That's weird... I don't really know much about modchips, but maybe it needs to be booted a different way?

Hmmm, swap magic is better at some things then, LOL.

Hope you get it figured out hursty.

[edit] I don't know if you tried it or not hursty, but I would think it'd boot up tha way you boot homebrew applications.

Sorry hursty, should have mentioned that I burned at 16x or 24x probably... it's what I burn all cd backups etc at though so didn't think to mention it.

Glad you got it working :)

Did it direct boot with modchip or did you have to use certain settings?

Yeah, I am glad that I didn't throw mine away about 6 months ago when the action replay max software stuffed it up for me :)

direct boot, the ps2ownz flashed across the screen, just selected "delete memory save",then all done
i will re-format it,when i have finished resident evil 4

this utility is great,my memory card would just freeze when loaded up,as i took the card out once when i shouldnt have,so i bought another(64 mb)
but then i couldnt save resident evil 4 as it wasnt official.

will post this on teammodders....[edit]..see you already have...cool

appreciate the find

You know how ps3 wont use magic gate ps2 mem cards. But i heard something about getting the files off of them to your computer wouldnt be hard. How do u get memory card files from ps2 onto ur pc.

I use the usb drive that came with my action replay max evo.. just copy the game saves you want to keep to that..plug the usb drive into your pc and save them... you have to use the max memory mager software or whatever it's called to transfer between mem card and usb drive though.

There might be a utility somewhere that lets you do the same thing with normal usb drives, but I haven't been looking so haven't seen one... but my action replay max evo was only £17 anyway, came with everything. if you decide to get one though, whatever you do, don't delete saves from your normal ps2 mem card with their software.. that's how it corrupted mine... if you want to delete saves off the ps2 mem card go into the ps2 browser and do it in there.
