Need software that will allow me to export AVI/MPG files via Firewire through ADVC-100 Converter to VHS.

Tried Scenelyzer and Premier, without success.

Thanks

I've had success doing that with my laptop+ADVCD-100 and Premiere 6.02 and SonicFoundry Vegas 3.0.

Odd that Premiere doesn't work for you...?

Maybe I am doing something wrong then.

I have my composite cords running out the back of the converter to the VCR's line 1. I have the converter set to digital in with my firewire running from the system to the converter in the front. I have the VCR set to Line One and VCR, not TV, in order to record. I am using Premier 6.5 and export using the Export function for movie.

Maybe I am doing something wrong?

Can you capture from the IEEE-1394 port?

Also, if you goto 'Network Properties' (I think that's what it's called in English Windows), is the IEEE-1394 port running/active? That would prevent the Permiere (or any other video app) from using the port as an output.

This happened to my XP laptop and took me ages to work it one out!!!

jnihil.

PS: If you do, then you need to disable the networking on the IEEE-1394 port.

I am able to Capture to Digital from VHS but not vice versa. I will check my settings in Windows 2000 Pro to see if my network is blocking the export on the firewire port.

I will let you know.

Thanks.

If capture works, chances are that the port setting is OK.

Is the project setting (and ouput settings) OK? (PAL, NTSC, etc)

PS: you've probably done this, but make sure the input select sw on the converter is digital.

Does it matter that I have the firewire running into the front of the converter? All output is supposed to go out the back for playback of digital to analog. I am just wondering if input from firewire has to be on the back as well.

Will check the output settings?

I did try an alternative method: Created an SVCD of the DV and recorded to VHS from my DVD Player. However, I paid lots of money for this converter and would like to make full use of its features.

The DV IO port is bi-directional. It doesn't matter whether you go into the front or the back. I think the only difference is one is 4-pin and the other is 6-pin. Again, this makes no difference.

The only thing I can suggest is to check the output settings. I had trouble with Vegas outputing to the converter via the DV port because the project setting was NTSC and I was trying to playback the PAL video. Vegas doesn't actually tell you that you have a conflict.
