hi, i just downloaded the utorrent client and would like to know how to optimise its settings to get the best download speeds. I have a 2mb broadband on dsl. Thanks.

first run this test:

http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest/ pick the city closest to yours and get your max upload speed. Now with that same number, (for eg. 300 kb/s) divide first by 8 (eg. 300/8 = 37.5) then take that number you just got and multiply it by .8 (eg. 37.5*.8 = 30) The final number you get is your Global Max Upload, which can be set in the Preferences section of utorrent.

Got this from dvdbacks guide to bitcomet but same applies for any bt client.
