Is there any way you can play mp3s through your mp3 player through your home stereo reciever without using a car/home stereo converter?

what are you trying to play the mp3 from? A portable mp3 player? your computer? if so, you can easily connect either to your home stereo. all you should need it a 1/8" stereo mini plug to RCA stereo (2 rca plugs...red & white) cable. connect the mini plug (same as a headphone) to the output of the mp3 player or speaker out of your computer sound card, and connect the RCA plugs to an unused audio input on your home stereo.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:
