I have a problem with burning the Star Wars DVDs, both the original trilogy and the prequels. They work fine on my computer, and show up with the correct aspect ratio, but when I put the burned DVD in my DVD player the image looks stretched, so that the actors look too tall and thin. There doesn't seem to be any of the image missing, but it is obvious that the aspect ratio isn't set correctly, or something. I couldn't really find anything about this on the forums, so I am guessing this isn't a very common problem. Any help would be great!

Not saying I can help, but it would be helpful if you stated the software you were using and possibly a note on the hardware being used. To start though, the software in question may supply a lead. I've backed up all the Star Wars movies and no problems to date.

No problem, I've done some posts late at night that didn't make complete sense. So, you're not alone. ;)

I've used Decrypter and Shrink before and never ran into that problem. So it's a new one on me. If you have Nero, do you have the complete suite with Nero Recode2? I was going to suggest using a trial of another program and see if that does better. That will get your backup done and tell us if it's just something that happened in Shrink.

http://www.SlySoft.com is the site where you can pick up the best decryption program on the market, AnyDVD. It's a driver type, you can read up on it at the site. It's a short read, the program isn't complicated. It has just a few settings and it runs in the background and breaks the encryption on DVDs. Once initially set, it requires nothing from the user. It can be set to start automatically when you boot up or you can start it manually. I opt for the latter, because I don't like everything starting at boot, but that's just a personal preference. While at SlySoft, get the download for CloneDVD2. Free for a few weeks and you learn how an easy transcoder works. Nero has a full function trial download with Recode if you don't already have it. http://www.InterVideo.com is the site where you can download some more full function trials. DVDCopy 4 is one of my favorite "easy" transcoders. Both CloneDVD2 and DVDCopy 4 have their own burners. So, all you need to do with either of the 2 is to have decrypted files for them to transcode and burn. Hopefully you'll get a good backup. If so, we can take another look at Shrink.

If we're lucky, someone that had the problem will come along and tell you how to fix it. ;) It could be an isolated problem with this one movie. Have you tried another movie since Star Wars to make sure you don't have a similar problem? If you have some RW recordable media, use it so you don't waste media; that is if your player plays RW. RW won't play on older players, but will on a bunch of the new standalones.

Good luck.

it sounds alot like you've burned a 16:9 dvd to 4:3 but i cant understand why that would happen in dvd decrypter/dvd shrink. Have you tried adjusting the settings on your dvd player itself? ive found that can sometimes cause problems.
