Tried backing up FF x-2 with dvd decrypter- did not work

The copy did not work with swap magic 2...newer game work but it didnt, this is my first attempt at copying a ps2 dvd game. All of the faqs seem too simple, is it really that simple or do I really need to pick certain options and tweak the ripping or copy program. I burnt the files using verbatim dlp 8x burnt at 4x btw.

In your first post, you wrote "dlp 8X". Is that a dual layer disc? If so, that would be a problem. You can't boot a DL disc with Swap Magic.

Either you have a modchip or swap magic stuff... not both. Well, you could ahve both but there wouldn't be much point trying to use both.
What did you use to get the iso to the hard drive DVD Decrypter?
and what did you burn it with?

i thought ffx-2 fit on one dvd disc. if im not mistaken. also you probably shouldnt burn at 8x. i heard you should usualyl burn ps2 games at 1-2x so as not to affect the laser so much. rumors but nothing more

ok ok many misunderstandings
by no solder modchip it is meant that this is the contraption that allows your ps2 to open its tray while it is on so no actual mod chip as they are known is installed so it's a Magic Swap system*
the media used is datalife plus-> (dlp)single layered disc it's max speed is 8x
I burned my media at 4x
I used dvd decrypter
with the instructions at http://www.angelfire.com/games6/easytutorial/dvddec/dvddec.html
these isntructions seem too simple no???

That clears it up. First, you might want to try better media, like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, TDK, Sony or Phillips.
The Decrypter process is that simple! Although, sometimes you have to rebuild a game. For directions on that, look at the FAQ's link in paddymails sig.
Also, you might want to check to see if your burner's firmware is up to date. There is a link in my sig for that.
Finally, have you cleaned your laser lately? If not, try cleaning it with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol to see if that helps.

He is using verbatim data life plus, 1 of the best discs you can use. Are you sure your using the no solder chip correctly, and is the chip the right chip for your version ps2 (they dont work on all systems)?

exactly I am using verbatim data life plus and my pc's practically new- just got it in september, all my other burned games work (i got other people to burn these but they are not in touch anymore)

Yeah, that was a slip up on my part! You could still check your firmware and try cleaning your laser to see if that helps.

I read somewher that I should choose the mds file as well as the mds file but I can only choose one when I try to write and the faq says to only choose the iso file...so what do i do>>>?

Ok, so to get this straight, you don't have a no solder modchip.. if you're using swap magic and a case mod or slimtools or whatever..then that is called a software/case mod. A no-solder modchip is one where you don't have to solder it into the ps2 because it clips onto the chip and some other points in the ps2 instead of soldering.
The verbatim media you are using is good... so if you have got an iso and an mds file on your computer and you want to burn with DVD Decrypter you can select either the iso or the mds file.
If you want to burn using neros "burn image to disc" program, then you select the iso.... with either program burn at 4x.

To Paddymail: Yes he does have a no solder modchip (not a no swap chip like the dms ezi though). Here is an example (probably not the 1 he has though): http://modstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=29
You use that instead of a fliptop, slidecard, etc. All it does is eject the ps2 tray without the ps2 knowing, but you still need to load swap magic first.
To ShadowNIN: It doesn't matter if you burn the .mds or the .iso (you only burn 1 of the 2), you will end up with the same outcome.

I keep hearing mixed things on the whole .mds and .iso thing. It seems that if you choose the .mds, you will not have a problem. And if you choose the .iso, its half and half. It makes sense to choose the .mds, as it is rather small in size and it does contain the path of the .iso, how many sectors, the file size etc. Unless you download a game and it only has the .iso then you don't really have a choice, but thats for downloaded games anyways.
ShadowNIN, is the no solder chip the one Sly posted? Or is it the NeoKey/SBox?

ill try fixing up my lens cause my DVD swap magic is having problems loading as well as a caouple games....my cd swap magic loads perfectly though, Ill keep everyone posted

Hey, I have a backup of FFX-2, also on verbatim media, however ihave a proper modchip. I have the iso of it somewhere, cant get to it at the moment but have you checked whether it's over 4.38Gb? If it's too big Swap Magic wont work.

it worked...... I did the white cog trick
turned clockwise till the lens dropped
turned clockwise 1 by 1 took notes on how quickly playstation logo showed up on original x-2 game
then took the middle of the working numbers for this one and checked the swap magic which had to have a more exact position and then the copy of FFX2 which did not load on the outer limits of the working positions and i finally got it to work perfectly at 16 clicks clockwise from the drop of the white cog
used: decrypter
swap magic 2.0
verbatim data life plus
burned at 4x
burned iso file from the choice of 2 (.iso or .mds files ripped)
