RESUME :

Well , I'm not so sure my problem is for advanced users ...
... and then I apologize for being led to believe this elsewhere .

I purchased CCE-Basic and converted a 2h./24GB AVI-file into 2h./7,9GB MPEG2-file ;
so how do I proceed now that I got this ready-made DVD-9-size MPG-file ?

If I use NERO , it will start encoding my already-encoded-MPG-file and I can't
use DVDrebuilder and I suspect not DVD2SVCD either ; isn't there any program
making a "DVDplayer-playable" DVD9-disc out of an 7,9 GB MPG-file ?!?!?!

all you need to do now, considering you dont want a menu/menus is author the mpeg stream into .vob files. You can use ifoedit, or any number of free tools to do this, and there are a few guides around.and the term for this is "dvd authoring" for searching etc.
Your nearly there dont give up!

Thank You guys !

BUT I do want menus and chapters and all that stuff too !
So is this possible ?

Recently I bought goldmembership to all VSO's software ,
(so I hope they'll survive the crazy french government !)
but I'll have another look again at DivXtoDVD , I thought
it was just for DivX-fans ..?!

Can any product from Slysoft or Alcohol-soft do this kind
of authoring the mpeg stream into .VOB files ?
I ask because I have bought access to all these too ...

I've upgraded to NERO7Premium , but it's not funny to see
the mediocre encoding on a large flatscreen so that's why
I gave the CCE-basic a try (58 $ !) and it is really very
beautifull pictures You get (even in low-quality CBR1pass
it was better than Nero ...)!

I wanted to try HC and I hope to learn it some day , but
making an MPG-file was much easier for me , on CCE-bbasic .

So making VOB-files with menus and all the bells is my goal ...

you can make menu's quickly and easily. I use dvd-lab it has a little bit of a learning curve but it's cheap and is excellent software. What will happen is you will import ur big ass mpeg file. Create a funky menu, use the auto-chapter function wich i think is particularly nifty. And it will author and burn your dvd :) There are freeware authoring programs that allow you to create basic menus one that comes to mind is "DVDAuthorGUI" it's a goodie.
