I'm a newbie to trying to burn downloaded movies to dvds. I however followed step by step on the guide posted here that shows you how to do so using Divx, dvd shrink and dvd encrypter.

I had two probs with this though and would like to see if I can get help.

The first is that the dvd plays only in my dvd player that isn't dvd/vhs combo. How could I do it to get the dvds to work in both my dvd players?

The second prob is that the sound is not at the same pace as the video. The sound is like a couple of mins behind. Was there something that I did wrong and what can I do to correct this problem?

Thanks!

hi, and welcome to aD...
firstly, what media did you use, and besides what you mentioned you used, at what speeds did you burn at?
what burner did you use?
whats the firmware revision on said burner?

keep in mind, downloaded stuff of the net is only as good as it was uploaded, which is usually crappy, sometimes you get lucky with DivX files and XviD files.

we will start with basics before we dive in deeper..

Thanks for replying and helping me out.

Lets see, for media I used maxell DVD+R. I have a compaq presario burner. How would I be able to check for the firmware revision of the burner?

I followed everything step by step as shown on this guide.

thats simple........ open DVD Decrypter, in the top menu, click tools, in the drop down menu, select check for firmware updates...... a window will pop up and it will say your current firmware, from that window, you can open it and will take you to a firmware page...

the maxell's are fine, not my choice of media, but they are rated high in this site. i use verbatim MMC04, ritek G05 and fuji TY02
when you get that info, let me know... and what speeds did you burn at?

If it plays on one dvd player and not the other it is due to the media. I always use the DVD-R for dvd's because it has the dvd logo that u see on retail movies. The DVD player that won't play it most likely will not play dvd+rs. The laggyness could be do to a couple of things, your dvd is dirty, or you was doing something on the computer while u converting the DivX or XviD to the dvd files. I usually convert the the movies while I am at work or overnight, that way I know nothing is going to mess up the converting process.
