I have a belkin f5d7230-4 router. It works fine for regular internet surfing, but a lot of strange things happen when I try to use bitcomet. If I try to download from bitcomet, after about 15 minutes or so, the speed drops drastically, then reaches 0. This is when my router just disconnects and I can't connect to it anymore or the internet connection disappears but I am still connected to the router. In either case, the only way to get it back running is to unplug/replug the power to the router. Even stranger is that when I just have bitcomet on period, not downloading, all the torrents are stopped, it still eventually disconnects. Does bitcomet access the router/internet when no torrents are downloading?

Anyway, I'm not sure but I think it has something to do with the number of connections I have on bitcomet. If I download one torrent, it slowly dies. If I download multiple ones, it dies even quicker. I've played around with the advanced->connections menu but I really don't know how to configure it. Can someone help me out here?

Here?s a picture:

That doesnt seem to be the problem because your max connections per task is only 40. Most Bitcomet users, myself included have about 225+ as our max connections. First problem, you should NEVER download more than one torrent at a time so dont do it anymore ;) If you really think it is the connection than try dropping the "max connections per task" even lower than you already have it.
Note: If this setting is lower than 200 your downloads will be VERY slow.

Yea this happens even if there's only one torrent downloading. I am not sure what the problem is. I can't just go return it and say "I can't download from bit torrent and it drops my connection" as a good reason.

Edit: I did a test where I just opened bitcomet and had no torrents in the window, completely blank. Waited for a minute. I got disconnected. It is definitely tied to bitcomet or torrent programs (azureus does the same thing). I think its real bizarre...

Its deff. a tie between ur isp and BitTorrent. Have u tried using Peergaurdian 2?. It might hide ur Bt client from ur isp. If not, u might need to switch isp's.

No sig for u!.

I don't think it is related to my isp. I can download fine if I connect the modem straight to my computer.

Reset your router back to its default settings and then go to http://portforward.com and learn how to open ports and conenctions for your router.

it has nothing to do with port forwarding. The connection drops completely. I have forwarded the ports already and they work fine when tested with the Azureus port test thing (I installed Azureus just for that purpose).
