Most people complain about slow BT speeds, but my problem isn't this, as I get the full 240k out of my 1 meg line. My problem is that once BT is in full flow I can't use the Internet.
I am pretty sure that its because I have too many TCP connections open but I just wanted someones advice who knows what the answer is for certain. I'm using BitLord and have looked through the settings, but I don't want to mess anything up without being sure.
Any ideas?
Andrew

You have set your upload too high. Lower it to 75% of your full download speed.

If that were the case then my downloads would suffer. At the moment I am utilising my full bandwidth. My problem is that BT is taking up all of my bandwidth and I believe this is due to open TCP connections. Unfortunately I am not sure how to change this.

tempted,
Is that in response to mine or cbrooks response?
Switch to Bitcomet as Bitlord id full of spyware. The go to options and then connections and set your max connections lower.

DVDBack23, it was in response to your comment. I have tweaked my uploads in order to gain a much higher d/l speed to good effect. I have also, as you say tried experimenting with this ranging from 15kbps to 3kbps. 10 or less seemed to make little to no difference for me.
I installed Bit Comet as you recommended but noticed that it was an identical program to BitLord so just kept to what I have.
Interestingly, my Internet speed remains very quick when I have only a small number of d/l's at one time (say 5 0r 6). It was when this increased to 10-11 that my Internet locked up. I have looked through the settings for global max TCP connections, but couldn't find what I needed.

Dude,
The perks of a 12 mbit line ;)
tempted,
I say to switch to bitcomet because bitlord is known to be full of spyware. Also I would NEVER recommend downloading more than two torrents at a time.

OK, I got rid of BitLord and I'm using BitComet instead. Speeds seem to be ok too.
May I ask why you would limit the number of downloads? Perhaps the sheer number of d/l's I had were creating too many connections?
Thanks

i was gonna suggest the same thing DVDback said .. i was told bitlord was the best but i done some virus scans after i installed it and it had like 5-10 spybots
and also if your using a public torrent site that could be your problem because everyone is leeching
try to get into respectable sites like torrentbytes

Exactly. The more you download the more you have to upload as well which can lock up your internet.
