I have shaw extreme and recently installed norton internet security and am having trouble getting any speed from my downloads and uploads. I need help configuring norton to allow me to use this thing to the fullest. I do not have a router.

update

I just ran 3 speed tests on bandwidthplace.com and here are the results:

1st test: 95.7 kilobits/sec. norton was running as well as utorrent

2nd test 58.6 kilobits/sec. only utorrent was running

3rd test 82.2 kilobits/sec. both were shut down

The speeds on average should be 1.23 megabits/sec

All you have to do is allow your port numbers in your firewall (assuming you are using bit torrent )

can u say more on this one? i have norton internet security but dont know how to work it except to disable it (which does not increase azeurus speeds). I have an incoming TCP listen port configured in the router and that's working fine. I have a drop dead slow broadband connection here in nepal (the highest I get out of any bittorrent program - and i have tried all the good ones with the exact same results - is about 1-4K/bs downloads. Using a downloader like MassDownloader I can get 10 to 15K and on some good nights, up to 44K down, but I guess ya can't compare a downloader speed with a torrent loader speed eh? So I am wondering if having norton on the machine, even disabled can effect a bit torrent somehow. But then again, I have a laptop on my home network without NIS, and i get the same speeds there.

Do u think the multi-ports/multitrackers plugin would be of any use, or is that for seeders only? thanks!
