I'm having a problem with Prassi PrimoDVD. It doesn't let me select my Pioneer DVR-104 as a recording device. When it scans for devices, it picks of my Plextor CD-R, Plextor CD-RW, and Pioneer DVR-104, but the Pioneer DVR-104 is dimmed out and it won't let me select it.

I have used VOB Instant CD/DVD and Nero. They both burn fine.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

I started out with Prassi...but started having wierd problems with it....so I moved on to VOB Instant. I used to get "Data Disc Terminated with Errors" before it even got started writing. Posted on this forum ( See "Data Disc Terminated with Errors" April 22)....I have come to the conclusion that Prassi is just buggy....maybe in the next release????

I dunno. Many have praised Prassi as being the best DVD recording software (from reading other forums). I just wish I could see if it really is. I guess I won't know.

Has anyone recorded at 2x speed? And, are the resulting DVD-R's reliably burnt? I just hate wasting media...

VOb's

I had a problem like that and I did not have an ASPI manager on my XP

It would not let me select my DVD-RW

I have used Prassi with my Pioneer DVR-104 and it writes at 2x. Maybe it is clashing with your plextor drive or something.

No, I do have an ASPI manager (adaptec 4.6) installed. Still no luck though.

I also have the problem of PrimoPrassi not seeing the Pioneer DVR-A04 as the recording device. It sees it fine as the source when extracting data, though.

I found a coincidental workaround. Exit PrimoPrassi. Put an audio CD in the A04, start the audio-CD copying app (RecordNow??). Then start up PrimoPrassi - and it magically allows you to select the A04 as the recording drive.

Remember to remove the audio CD and put in your DVD-R blank media.

This *might* work for ya.

Folks,
I had the same problem with Prassi giving me - all of the sudden - the "Data Disk Terminated with errors"...

After HOURS of tweaking my hardware and Windows, I have a very simple solution, and it worked fine for me...

The thing is, it has nothing to do with the software or with the hardware, but it seems that when ripping vobs using dvd-decrypter or smartripper, some of the vobs or the ifo's seem to be slightly oversized by a few hundred bytes... And Prassi can't handle them...

Solution: Rip the dvd with dvd-decrypter, then run Ifoedit, load the vts_01_0.ifo, and in "vob extra's" select "strip streams"... Let ifoedit create new ifo's and set the vob-size to 1 GB...

And after 15 mins you get files that match with prassi...

Succes!!
