Hi, i went to buy a new card, and i saw the:

BFG version 128 MB Geforce 6600 GT (overclocked)

And there was a PNY 256Mb geforce 6600 LE

Which one would be better, i asked the man there and he told me that the 6600 LE 256Mb would be better because it was 256MB, but i was wondering what one would be really better the GT or the LE, note that the GT is only 128Mb, but somehow i think i should of got it because it was a GT?, (please note all are agp, i dnt have pci-e)

PLease lend me ur advise please i really want to no so that o could exchange today.

Thanks cheers, Happy New Year.

:):)

I beleive that the 6600 LE 256mb has a slower memroy at DDR where as a GT has a fast memory at GDDR3 and i recon ur better of hjaving faster than more of it.

System 1 :- Main PC: AMD XP 3200+ - OC Slightly 2.31Ghz, 1024 MB DDR PC2700, 1 x 40GB Hard Drive, 1 x 60GB Hard Drive, ATI 9600XT (256 MB)Graphics Card.
Laptop 1: 1GB DDR2 Ram, 100Gb Samsung HDD, ATI X700 128mb Graphics Card.
System 2: Downloading PC: AMD Sempron 2500+, 512 MB DDR PC2700, 1 x 40GB Hard Drive.

So what, should i take back my GEforce 6600LE 256Mb, for the overclocked 128MB geforce 6600GT from bfg?, do you think that this is a wise decision?

The 6600GT out preforms the 6600le, yeah it has 128 DDR3 memory opposed to 256mb DDR but it is still the faster card, i would exchange it ... the GT is the top of the line in the 6600 line up :)

Above are the specs for each card, you can see by comparing the specs that the GT out performs the le by a big margin. The next question is are you going to use the card for gaming ? if yes the the GT is the best option as the le won't cut it with todays games if no then the le will suffice, it's not that much better than a 6200 ....
To understand graphics cards a bit better have a read of this http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/index.php/id;1854767920;pp;6;taxid;...
hope this helps

Happy new year :)

Yeah i know you are using AGP the specs are the same , as for the 256mb GT it must have been a typo on the manu site .... when all is said & done the GT is the better card by far, i use one & it really is a excellent card, one more thing to consider the GT requires a power supply of 350w min anything less could cause your system to crash frequently or worse.... best you know all the pitfuls of upgrading ;)

Yeah the GeForce 6600GT is definitely better than the 6600LE. Faster memory means the card will be able to process data faster, resulting in better performance. Also, a 350 Watt power supply is recommended for a minimally loaded system. How many Watts do you have now?
