that 16mb of memory is only going to get you a few pictures (10). its basically a starter card. you'll need to get a bigger one

as for the rest: Megapixels...depending on what you are going to be shooting four should do just fine for you. Unless you plan on taking pictures and blowing them up to outrageous sizes or croping and blowing up a nostrel you'll be ok.

get the camera

obviously the first difference is the megapixels. 3.1 to 4.
the next is the video capture abilitys. the 3.1mp camera won't take nearly as "crisp" (tho they are digital cameras not camcorders) videos as the other. after that the differences are in the ability to customize things like aperature, white balance and many other things that really only apply to someone who is going to use those features. one thing you should keep in mind when chosing this camera is what you plan on doing with it. chances are that you are not the most experienced photog so you won't really utilize many of the the more advanced features. if however you are are the experamental type and you'll get more interested with toying with different features go with the 4Mp camera. if you will only be using it for everyday normal "take pictures of the kids" type of deal than maybe you'll go with the 3.1. in my opinion for the extra fifty eight bucks go with the 4Mp.

as far as your question about storage goes. they both will use SD memory cards. if your unsure about these they're what you store your pics on. you can buy these cared anywhere from 32mb up to 2G... so you can store fifty pictures or fifty-five hundred. you just have to get bigger cards.
