I am trying to burn songs onto an audio CD that I have on my PC, but everytime I try to convert them to wav format I get a message saying something about copy protection. Does anyone know how to get around this?

Thank you

Thanks for the feedback guys but I am not trying to copy any CDs. I am trying to convert WMA tracks to WAV and I keep getting denied by every conversion software out there. If anyone subscribes to napster this is the format the songs are downloaded in, so i need to convert them to wav inorder to put them on an audio CD. I really apprieciate all the feedback you guys give! Thanks

In that case, you don't actually need to do a manual conversion. Most media players will do the conversion for you on the fly, including (probably, but I don't know as I don't use it) the Napster player.

Normally when you select Burn there will be a choice between Data CD (which would require an MP3 CD player) or Audio CD (which will play in CD players).

Ok i'm trying to understand, you downloaded .wma files from Napster and you want to convert them to wav format? Why can't you just keep them as .wma and burn to a cd? Won't converting them to wav make them sound shitty?

I don't think you can do anything with napster files, can you?

No it wouldn't make them sound shittie!

Anyway, If you can't burn them to a CD and then rip them then you out of luck because legal downloads are copy protected. That mean that the "Digital Rights Managment" (DRM) restrictions apply. Some companies let you make CDs with your files while some only let you listen to them on a PC or portable device. Read you contract!

- No audio convertor on the planet lets you circumvent DRM. Although it can sometimes be avoided.

For those that don't know what they are talking about. Stop posting bad info. Learn from "the big boys" first, by doing some research, then make a comment.

Check-out this thread for some ways to get around the DRM:

I wasn't posting bad info, if you read my post I was simply asking a question, even when I said won't converting them to wavs make them shitty<-- that was a question too. I try not to post up bad info but I only speak from my own experiences with this stuff.
