Hi I am pretty new 2 all this stuff. Bought a linksys WAG354G modem router and a WPC54G adapter for my GF very old laptop. The Laptop runs ME and despite linksys saying that the adapter works on ME the laptop just dies.

Given up on that so thought I would just see if worked in my laptop running XP. It works but the signal strength constantly goes up and down unless next the WAP. Now this laptop is a centrino so does not need the adapter but I just wanted to test it. Would this having a wireless card built in interfere with the signal of the card? If so even when it is disabled.

Linksys did not seem to have any answers. I just want to know if its the card thats the problem etc before returning it.

Thanks

Unless I am like a foot away it is irratic n even then its not what I would call stable. If I use the built in wifi card the reception is excellent all over except 1 black spot. I spoke with a store and they were very mad about card adapters and even advised me out of purchasing an antenna saying it would make little difference.

Does yr laptop have built in wifi or r u using usb or card adapter?
