Sight, I have this game backed up, it worked on my ps2, perfectly fine(I dunno what is my chip, but it's a very good one)
Well now, I'm trying to play the game on my brothers ps2(he has a Magic 3.1 modchip) and well the game simply doesn't work, it loads, but after the screen that says activision, it jumps to the red square "not a ps2 cd/dvd rom"
I tried to burn it again with DVD decrypter loading the ISO, and then recording it on the slowest setting.
Again, no luck.
Any help guys?

not to hijack but im having somewhat of the same problem with the same game.
using:
DVD Decrypter Write @ 4x Read @ 4x
LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1693S setup profile DVD+R
FujiFilm 8x DVD+R with Disc ID: RITEK-R03-02
Book Type: DVD+R
PS2 V7
Fliptop
Downloaded - Extracted - choose iso -write
From the Swapmagic 3.6 Menu. When I press X while highlighted over Load Program it takes up to 30 seconds then says not a valid ps2 disc.
I tested my SM disc by loading a original ps2 disc and it loaded fine.
anyone with any thoughts ideas?

Do you have any backups that work with those discs?
Some people have said that the R03 riteks aren't very good, also try DVD-R instead of DVD+R discs.. get 8 speed discs from the manufacturers I mentioned before or in the first link in my sig under the image, and burn at 4x.

None for PS2
Done 3-4 Movies with no issues what so ever.

Is there any disadvantages in using DVD-R for backing up PS2 games?

Assuming you meant 8x capable, I have a issue with not being able to find quality media locally and in looking online I cannot determine what exactly im suppose to be looking for since I wouldnt be able to physically see it. Ive noticed places like newegg have a lot of the aforementioned brands but dont really tell me any information.
Thanks for your help thus far.

I can't help you very much with where to get the media from as I'm from the UK... But I think http://www.supermediastore.com is a good place to get Taiyo yudens, verbatim etc...
As far as any disadvantages to DVD-R discs, there are none as far as I know... I've been using DVD-R for movies and PS2 backups for quite some time now and have probably done around 300-400 movies and around 150 PS2 games with them... hardly ever any problems, and when there have been it's usually been user error when learning how to do things properly when I first started out.
You should be able to find verbatim discs in stores too I'm pretty sure... but worth checking around online.
good luck with it

The problem is the brand after all?

No, verbatim's should work fine... what speed did you burn the backups at? I recommend burning at 4x on 8x certified discs... slowest isn't best!!!
If that doesn't work, then I'd check your brothers chip is working correctly.

Believe it or not, it works now.
I uploaded the ISO to the PC, and then burnt it in 4x(i've been doing it in 2x)
And well, the first time it didn't work, and the second time it amazingly did.
Thanks guys!
