need help with limewire basic

I am a Limewire basic user and recently switched to high-speed. Whenever I try to download a file The downloading time is so slow, I mean slower than dialup. I have tried several things and nothing seems to help. So could someone please help me because I dont know what else to do.

basically dont use limewire its full of spyware, re install windows as soon as possible its reaalllly nasty shit. also try using soul seek for your downloads its spyware free, and DONT USE KAZAA

I use LimeWire all the time and never had problems w/ it. Make sure the port ur using is correctly forwarded/opened through ur firewall(s)/router. Does ur new modem have a built in firewall?.
LimeWire imo is the best P2P going right now. Get ur hands on LimeWire Pro if u can, its fantastic ;-D
edit: what are u mostly using this for?, songs right?. dont d/l any programs off P2P and keep up to date on virus/spyware protection, and ur good to go.

WOW, you want him to reformat his PC because Limewire is running slow? Ill agree, getting video and programs off Limewire is more hassle than its worth, but ive never had a problem with music (im using PRO for turbocharged speeds). Your router and modem should not be a problem, just make sure Windows XP Firewall is off and that you allow full connections in your regular firewall (mcafee, norton, zonealarm, etc)

Lol, limewire is as clean a program as any other (& before i was a torrenter, I tried all of them :)

Untrue. http://www.download.com has carried LimeWire for a very long time, and download.com doesn't carry anything that contains spyware. This information is probably spread all over the site.

I downloaded a program called Frostwire which is basically the same thing as limewire. and im getting very high speeds now

my mistake, i have always been told to stay away from limewire. also soulseek, doesnt have seeds. you download files from individual users not pieces from lots of users. the speeds are generally not good as you say tho. but there is alot of good music on there lol.

try frostwire same as limewire but has much better speeds and u get much better search results
