if you burn a PS2 game to a DVD+R properly, will it work? Do they work at all? I've heard different things from different places, some say that they have limited compatability, some say they do not work at all.

yeah I'm wondering that too.. I copied a PS2 game on a DVD+R but I'm not sure if it works because either I burned it wrong... or DVD+R TDK doesnt work.. the way i copied it was I used a dvd decyrpter then burned the image with Nero.
Please Help This Poor Noob...

I burned ONE (and only one) DVD+R game and it worked, but the music skipped. I then re-wrote the game onto DVD-R & there haven't been any skips period. PS2 likes DVD-R discs, so try to use those if possible. YMMV

I'll try with a DVD+R just until I get the hang of this whole thing, too bad the game I'm backing up is musically saturated (beatmania IIDX) but this will make good practice for now. Anyone got any good tutorials on how to do it?

Yes... any PS2 consoles version 4 -> current will read DVD+R easily. However, it's wise to "book type" them (DVD+R) into DVD-ROM format (that's one of the best, safest and or the "universal" format) for all PS2 consoles.

just thought I'd post a follow up, I backed up my japanese legit copy of DDR extreme to a DVD+R just using the DVD Decrypter read/write method and it works perfectly.
Thanks everyone
