I purchased my PS2 locally from someone who advertised it as "modded". It is a slim model - the latest release - and everything inside of the box was sealed except for the console itself. A small white card was inside of the console's box with the PS2 warranty sticker from the bottom of the console stuck onto it. It had been removed, I guess, and this is the only real evidence I have that the system was actually modded as advertised.

I have a few backup ISOs of PS2 games on my PC. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but the one I have burnt so far doesn't work. It is a copy of NBA Street V3.

I have an ISO of the game. The first time I burnt it was with Alcohol 120%. I just burned the ISO directly onto the DVD-R at 1x. When I started up the system with the disc, the PS2 prompted me to "insert a Playstation or Playstation 2 format disc." No dice.

I just finished burning it a second time. This time I unpacked it with ISOBuster, and then placed the individual parts into Nero Burning Rom and burnt it at 2x. Again no dice. The system won't recognize the disc.

Is this proof that my system is not modded after all? I haven't opened it up yet to see, but I trust the guy who sold it to me. He seemed honest.

What are some possible reasons why the games are not working? I am using DVD-R media, Ridata brand; the ISO is solid and clean as far as I can tell; I haven't installed any programs into the PS2 - I've heard of things like "toxic" - and I have made no further mods to the system since I bought it.

Can anybody help me?

Just burned a copy of Burnout Revenge; Alcohol 120%, 1x, Ridata -R. No luck!

I am going to pry open the system tonight to see if there is anything inside. In case I don't have the right tools, though, I would still greatly appreciate any input!

Thanks :)

I have Burnout Revenge, Killzone, Timesplitters 2, NHL 2k6, FIFA 2K6, Res Evil 4...

Is it normal for some discs to not even be recognized?

Try it using killzone.. and burn at 4x on good media.

If it still doesn't work then take it back to the guy who sold it to you to get some instructions on how to use it, what modchip it is etc.
