I was wondering if it was better for you to change the port in azureus for security. The default port is 6881. If a vulnerability was ever found in azureus, a person could exploit the hole in that port. But if you change the incoming port, the person couldn't exploit your system, right? Just a thought.

The thing is though, say a vulnerability was found IN Azureus, then port number is irrelevant. 6881 is a common port - thats all it is. Sure, it would make you an EASIER target, but changing port numbers doesn't ensure that you will be unaffected by an exploit in Azureus - as the simple act of conencting to other users (for uploading and/or downloading) needs to make your port public - hence just as accesible as 6881.

Plus, if someone out there really didn't like you, they could simply port scan your IP address for the "Azureus" port, whatever it is.

You know that rare phenonomon when after hours and hours and hours of troubleshooting, things just just magically work and you have no idea why? Just gotta love it! ;-)
