OM,

What kind of Gateway comp is it? Model number?

How are you defining 'auto' cd? Do you mean a cd that has an autorun.ini file in it?

had a friend with a similar problem with a dvd drive that played everything but dvds basically the drive was knackered and it sounds like yours is too. if you can try the drive in another pc to see if you get the same problem. if you do get a new drive if you dont try another drive in the gateway

your problem has absoloutly nothing to do with JUMPER (not jupper) settings its most likely down to the drive being faulty. try it in a different system this is the best way to find out where the problem lies if the drive functions properly in another system then the issue isnt the drive itself but may have something to do with other hardware or software problems

you find that out when youve actually tested the drive.. it could be dodgy bios or driver problems or a broken ide controller / cable / port it could be too many things... i would just try another cd drive... if that works, Im sure you can figure out its broke
