where can i get benq 1640 ??

hi all
i have been reading all the reviews here for the benq dw1640.
but i can't find it...(newegg,yahoo,etc').
it seems that this drive was replaced by the dq60.
my question is:
is the dq60 better than the dw1640?
if not where can i still get it?
and if not what are good alternatives to the 1640 ?

I don't see the Benq 1640 anywhere. At least not at the major stores in the Toronto area. I'd go for the 1650 or the 1655 (which I just picked up) if u want Lightscribe.

I just got the I/O Magic Litescribe on sale at Staples $49.94 after easy rebate.I used one of the $3.00 ink vouchers total price $52.21.I read you have a 50/50 chance its either going to be a lite-on or BEN-Q DW 1655 so I had them open the box it was BEN-Q DW 1655 :)I have two 1640's already but wanted to play around with the Litescribe.Those 1640'S are a heck of a good burner will see how the 1655 stacks up.

Avinka,you will be happy with that NEC.I have the NEC 3500,Three of the 3520's and two 3540's never a problem out of any of them.I flashed them with modified firmware so they booktype all my +R'S TO DVD-ROM.

avinka- Have the NeC 2500A & 3500A and have no complaints with either ! But in the end you pays your money & you takes your chances! Happy Burning & Good Luck!

avinka- Shop4tech.com apparently has Benq Dw 1655's in stock again so you could return your DQ60! and buy a dw 1655 from them Though I must confess that I've never dealt with them personally ! Just a thought! Good luck & happy hunting !

avinka- all I can say is I really like my Nec 3500A & 2500A so I think you will like your Nec but everyone has different taste & priority's so you may want something different Plextor makes excellent drives as well although I think they are somewhat overpriced at retail ! But the 716 is supposed to be the Cat's pajama's so good luck with whatever drive you end up keeping ! Happy Burning!

run into my first problem...
i flashed it with 1y4 firmware and now when i start clonedvd2 (war of the worlds)it says that the disc is protected...

avinka- sorry to hear that - Never having flashed my firmware I would turn you over to greater minds then I ! Anyone ! If you backed up (Made a copy ) of the original FW perhaps you could re-flash it to the original Just a thaought! Good Luck & Happy Burning ( eventually)

avinka- Mayhave been some kind of program conflict & when you did a system restore you removed that program ! Hey it works ! ( It's Alive ! , Alive I tell You ! LOL! ) whatever you did you got it working ! That's great ! Good Luck in the Future & Happy Burning!
