Which brand RAM to purchase?

Hello, I am looking to upgrade the RAM in my HP A720n to 1G. It is pc2700, so I was wondering which brand to get. The pc is used for movies, dvd's, and music. If it helps, I am running XP Home sp2, Mcafee virus and firewall(free from isp), ms anti-spy, ad-aware se, spybot, ewido, dvdd, dvdshrink, dvdfab, and other apps for video. Sorry for going on but I know the more you guys know about problems the better you can help. Thanks. AD rocks!!!!

corsairs probably the best but its usualy rediculously expensive. id just go for some kingston value ram or something its not really going to make a lot of a difference what brand you buy unless your planning on overclocking or performance gaming etc. generic should be fine for what your using the computer for.
also in future could you put hardware questions like this in the "other pc hardware" thread as this is a general operating system discussion

there are only 3 ram manufacturers you should consider
the first is CRUCIAL
the second is CRUCIAL
and last but not least...... CRUCIAL

I have checked that out, my only question is Crucial says I can go as high as 2 GB, while my pc is only allowing 1 GB. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Also how does this thread get transfered to the proper one? I don't want to upset anyone. Thank you.

nobody seems to mind the fact that your in here or it wouldve been magically moved by a moderator by now lol.
Your mobo may need a bios update to handle the 2 gig if it tells that the maximim it can take is 1.

I like Corsair, Crucial, OCZ, Mushkin value, and Kingston Value. As you can tell i'm not very picky about ram which I should be!!! I've had nothing but good experiences with these brands.

Mushkin is also a great brand to consider. Awsome when bought from newegg.com mainly because of the price: 105$ for 2x 512 megs.

what do you guys think of Ultra ram?
I am look at getting
Ultra 512MB PC3200 DDR 400MHz CL3 Memory
for my computer and know some one that i can get for a decent price and need to know as soon as possible.

If your not gonna be overclocking then go for a value kit from any of the manufactures above, also have a look at Geil & G.skill, Geil do a 1G (2x512) Value kit thats really good has very good timings & is well priced, it's better to go for a pair of matched sticks of ram like you get in a kit rather than mix & match brands & timings .... One more thing you don't have to get PC2700 you can get PC3200 it will work on your mobo :)
