Sorry if I'm asking a dumb question, but when I create the DUMMY files, do I create literally "zero-data blank" files (with nothing in them), or do I have to make it exactly the same size as the actual files?
And what's the first part with the numbers in your FileList.txt?Quote:

It doesn't seem like filesize to me, and it definitely isn't an md5 hash...
One last thing: after I use CD/DVD-ROM Generator to save the IML file, CD/DVD-ROM Recording Unit Controller starts up and tells me "The Recording Unit is not connected." and "Initialization failed." Is there any way I can fix that? If not, do I burn the .000 file with my burner program so that it automatically combines all the files?

i made a copy of MGS2:SUBSTANCE(1 DVD).The game works perfectly until solidus chokes raiden...then it goes to a black screen,can anyone help me as to what i have to do,..here is the list of the files in the DVD

I don't know how you burn it exactly, but maybe you can ask 3luis about it.
By the way, I've successfully burned a disc now. The dummy files are literally blank so that the files can fit on a dvd5. Then I followed this guide: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/275350 to burn the dvd. But I still don't get what the numbers in the FileList are...

do not just put that file and the sys in 1 dvd..
so something else...i dunno...
the dummy systems it too much trouble for me...
so...

@hursty:as i already said the game which is on 1 DVD works flawlessly until solidus chokes raiden,then i get a black screen...i have listed the \MGS files in the DVD in my first post....i just wanna know if i can burn another DVD to continue the game!!

well you will have a black screen,thats probably the point where it looks for the second layer
thats why it needs splitting on 2 disks,so yes,you need to carry on the game with the 2nd disk
this game is a bitch to split,and my advice is to buy a copy off ebay

You need the STAGE 2 DAT, which is where the file is. You must burn a nother DVD

madboy: To create DUMMY files, just create any file (you can do it with Notepad) and rename it to something else. Be sure to also change the file extension.
I'm not sure what 3dluis meant by the STAGE2.DAT disc. Didn't the tutorial tell us to burn that file on the second disc? Why would we need a third disc?

ok i burned the STAGE2.DAT file in a second DVD,but when i boot it...its shows the Playstaion screen,then says plz insert a vaild PS2 disc...what am i doing wrong???

... Did you follow the tutorial when you created the second disc? It tells you everything you need to know to burn it. You can't just burn one file on the disc and expect your ps2 to be able to read it.

Im having the same problem. I followed the guide exactly and both discs work fine. The first DVD has the game and the 2nd one has the missions. However when it comes to the end where Solidus chokes Raiden, the game goes black. How do create a 3rd disc to solve this problem? The guide only shows how to do 2 DVDs

Hello!
I found a solution for making 3rd DVD of MGS2:Substance to proceed from the choking moment. All you need to do is to burn all the files from both layers (following Septiego's guide, see previous page for CD-Check removal) with exception for MOVIE.DAT, STAGE2.DAT and VOX2.DAT, which should be dumped with an empty file, f.ex. a text file containing "1" (renamed to match the missing files names). Left is LBA, right is file address. Make sure you build the DVD in $ony CD/DVD Generator and not in CDGenPS2, because it's only for CD ISO file creating.

someone put in torrent supposedly this "3th" disc ...
and downloaded...
it bring with all the archives listed in the mikepl12´s post...
but...
after the talk with "skull face" campbell, the game freeze into a black screen again!!!!
i think this is before the final fight with solidus..
the disc´s size is 4.07G
what can i do?
if you don´t kill for my english..
i won´t kill you for you spanish...

husrty i went to see that and its for the SLUS file mot for the SLES if you open them with winhex in those offsetts (6F4,etc) their different than the SLES
