What is this and why can't I get passed it? Backing up Stealth, read other threads, which basically are saying the same thing. Using latest version of AnyDVD (updated today) and CloneDVD to burn. Tried DVD Decrypter and burn with CloneDVD and get the same thing, also DVD FabDecrypter. Then tried AnyDVD with Xcopy Xpress got a successful burn but disc won't play.

Anyone have any idea's?

What are the errors that you are getting, or is it a stand alone player issue? Do they play on the PC?

Little more info on the actual problem or error messages please.

Sorry about that. I forgot to post the error I got. Navigation Pack O VOBU 4 28 7 Clone 6 TCE. The one successful burn I got won't play on PC or standalone. The player on my pc won't even recognize there's a disc there. No problems with any of my other discs. I thought the latest version of AnyDVD was supposed to take care the VOBU thing. Note, in my sig, the various apps I have at disposal. I'm not a novice at this, but this is new. Also have gotten the same thing with The Gospel today. I'm trying AnyDVD and DVD Shrink to see how that goes.

Are you making sure to give AnyDVD time to get past the encryption before opening the ripping/burning program?

I found that if I am in too much of a hurry I confuse the system.

I never start up anything until after I've looked at what AnyDVD logged and then close the window.

MY experience with "Stealth" was that it's Easy with AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2. In fact, no errors, no issues,
just a perfect back-up. Playback was Excellent too! What type/brand of blank media are you using?

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

My problem isn't during the burn but during the transcoding that I get an error. Invalid Block Start Code with CloneDVD in addition to the afore mentioned. (The Gospel) and with DVD Decrypter I get Packer Heading Not Found.

I've been doing this a long time and never had problems like this!

DVD Shrink can do the job without any problem. Even my old Platinum XCopy breezed through it without having to use AnyDVD.

Just used Xcopy Xpress with AnyDVD to back up The Gospel and it plays great. I'll try this combo again with Stealth. My last attempt didn't fair well.

kckid11,

Personally, I don't think AnyDVD is going to help you. I believe you have a bad press on that DVD, take it back and get another.

Good luck,

Rich

Yeah, my copy of Stealth is probably a bad pressing. I don't know anyone who wasn't able to back it up! Hell with it, I'll just buy another one and give this one to someone who doesn't have it.

Could also be your drive. Are you ripping with your burner? Do you have the latest firmware? Do you have another drive even just a plain old DVD drive or another computer to install the burner drive? Try ripping with another drive and see what happens. I sometimes get weird errors on some disks but when I use my second computer with burner it works fine. Obviously something is out of wack. But with drive prices so low I never take the time to replace them with real money I simply wait for a free drive at officemax or staples (with rebates) then upgrade and throw the burner away. Also you can get free drives from the manufacturer using the RMA procedure of returning the defective drive for a replacement in this way if you wait 11 months before returning it, you will get a newer model returned to you. Also if you own stock in the drive company like Sony for instance you can get free demo units to try and you dont have to own alot of stock. Just got my sample box of godiva chocolete I love those chocoletes. Kinda rambling there but the point is you dont need to sweat the details just get a new drive (when on rebate).

@ megabyte2

Thanks for tip on obtaining drives. I do use a 2 drive system for backing up my disc and never had an issue like this. Just did Wedding Crashers today with no problems, so it's definitely a bad pressing of Stealth. There doesn't seem to be any other valid reason.

@YOBUZZB,
I agree, Bad Press, I have seen this error with Dark Water, got another disc & it went just fine. I think that the bad press thing will happen again in the future because the manufacturers are just getting sloppy.

Use The Best Media for The Best Burns! TYs, Verbs,(Made in Taiwan) Sony MIJs (YUDEN000 T02), Sony Made in Taiwan DVD+R 16x, Maxell MIJ, RITEK G05.

This is weird people talk about bad press's or defective originals. I dont believe in it. I have seen bad transfers but that shows up in all the disks. Case in point john waynes mcclintok (by good times) worst transfer I have ever seen. NEVER BUY A GOODTIMES DISK they are garbage. Oh they work but that company is so cheap they use a film transfer that is worse then a camcorder rip at the movie theater. If you ever get a chance rent mcclintock from good times and laugh your butt off with the out of focus, out of frame, 16mm source that has been around the world and played for years. This DVD makes beta and vhs look real good. I am willing to bet $100 that NOBODY can find a worse transfer from film to DVD then mcclintok by good times. There my money is where my mouth is.

I just tried backing up Stealth last night with DVD Shrink and received an error message: "DVD shrink encounter an error and cannot continue Invalid DVD navigation". I read on this forum that it might be a bad press of the movie, then I tried DVDFab Decrypter and it worked right away. I played around a bit with VOB Blanker and found that I needed to blank out the first 6 cells of the main movie in order for it to start playing...problem solved. After blanking the cells DVD Shrink worked without a hitch and then I burned the movie using Record Now 7.
