I believe that is a problem with AnyDVD version 5.7.3.1. Upgrade to the most current.

I think if you use a free trial of Super DVD Copy http://www.dvdtodivx.net/sdcinst.exe (Don't Split the DVD), and then compress it with DVD Shrink, and then burn it with "ANY DVD" or "Nero".
When I have a problem with DVD that will not shrink with DVD Shrink or FAB etc... Super DVD Copy never fails me! Just remember that you will have to burn a straight copy (about 7-8 GB) then compress it.
Let me know how it goes!

Well, I'm not so sure that the problem is with a bad press. I got a new copy of Stealth and had the same problem. CloneDVD failed, DVD Shrink failed, DVD Decrypted Failed, However, DVDFab did not. Once I was able to make a good copy I went back and tried DVD Shrink and Decrypted. Decrypted failed again but DVD Shrink now works. The only thing different from the first time I tried with DVD Shrink and the second was I had installed DVDFab. It seem odd that it would suddenly start to work, I wonder if DVDFab add data to some of the files that could be shared with DVD Shrink.
Anyone have any thoughts?

OK sportsfans, here's something to add. I recently discovered that difficult disc encounter less problems if you play them first on your PC's DVD drive. I don't know what technical reason there is for this but it seems the DVD rips without error when it's played first. If someone knows a technical reason(s) for this, please share!

kckid11,
SUPER DVD COPY, SUPER DVD COPY, SUPER DVD COPY! As I stated above in my first post, this is a sure way of burning Stealth! It worked for me! Only thing (as I stated above) is that you would have to burn a straight 7.+gb file to your desktop, then using DVD Shrink compress it to another file, then burn it with Nero. Simple.
I do not have any problems with Stealth the Gospel etc. because I use SUPER DVD COPY if DVD Shrink gives that redundancy error. SUPER DVD COPY has a 14 copy trial http://www.dvd-copy-software.org/download.htm#super%20dvd%20copy. Just try and see for yourself. Don't bang your head against the wall, just get it over with. Let me know how it goes!

Trying to back up this movie, using the latest version on AnyDVD 5.8.3.1 and Shrink. Shrink will open the film but the lowest I can get the film down to is 5.470mb. Anyone with any ideas. I've tried DVD Decrypter, DVDFab and VobBlanker.

Mhcq2002,
Umm, I think if you try using SUPER DVD COPY, then Shrink it using DVD SHRINK, you will not have a problem. INFACT, you can use this method with any movie you're having a problem with. I may be a newbie on this site but I'm not a newbie, when it come to backing up a DVD. I've backed up 862 DVD's, and the ones I had problems with were backed up using this method! Here is the link, download the software (http://www.dvdtodivx.net/sdcinst.exe), rip a striaght copy to your desktop and shrink it with DVD SHRINK to your desktop. FAB Will not work, Decrypter will work sometimes, but SUPER DVD COPY works everytime, don't ask me how, I know from experiance (862 DVD copied).
This NEWBIE is on POINT!
Ron.
P.S. When it does work, please give me some propers! Thanks!

I also want to mention that sometimes a disk is damaged and that will affect the shrinking process using DVD Shrink and Decrypter, but with SUPER DVD COPY it will not matter, don't ask me how, I just know!

mhcq2002,
Have you tried the re-author feature in Shrink, just grab movie only with this feature, and it will eliminate everything else, however, you will not have any menus, but you will have the movie.

Mhcq2002,
If you got 5.40GB after using DVD Shrink, you do not have to re-author it, all you have to do is uncheck one of the lanquage files to reduce you GB to 4.64GB. Normally the "English DTS" file is the largest, uncheck it and that will solve the problem. It will not effect the quality of the copy.

Quote: Thats what I thought as well. Here's a screen shot of Shrink.
http://www.cqforums.co.uk/mark/Image2.jpg as you can see even with them options unticked.
Well, that is your problem, you did not read the guide. Unfortunately, at this time I do not have the time to go over it with you, perhaps someone else can chime in. Your mistake is very simple to correct.
Sorry,

Download FixVTS. Launch the program. Then drag and drop a VOB file on it and press "full DVD". After that, DVD Shrink will have no problems.
http://www.videohelp.com/~FixVTS/
One more option is to press the "Analysis" button in DVD Shrink. It should correct everything.
Also, read through this if you want:
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260734
This is a step by step guide using a manual ARccOS removal method and will work for any Sony DVD released so far. It also addresses the problem that you are having with compression and the audio size being screwed up.

I don't think that Shrink causes the problem. I used DVD Shrink solely for all my ripping with & without AnyDVD running. That's why it's good to have multiple burners. Encountered problem? Switch to another writer but using the same program. After burning successfully with Shrink, then I will use other programs like DVD X-Copy & CloneDVD 2 for testing.

Mhcq2002,
Did you try the SUPER DVD COPY as I suggested? If so, how did it perform?

Mhcq2002,
Below is a great guide for your DVD Shrink. I think it may be your set up! Your "Preference" tab is very important, and DVD-5 should be selected. Your "Preview" tab is not that important. Your "Output" tab, just check everything, because it may improve the ripping performance. Your "Stream Selection" tab, select all languages. Your "File I/O" tab, uncheck enable burning with nero, you can burn anytime, but makes sure the top 3 boxes are checked. Then you should be good to go!

@semid13,
Based on the screenshot I saw from following that link:
http://www.cqforums.co.uk/mark/Image2.jpg
...it is a problem with DVD Shrink. Look at the audio sizes....8MB for an audio streams??? 8MB would only be about 2 minutes and 40 seconds of audio. Even the subtitle streams are way too small. They should be somewhere around 8MB each, not the audio.
All you have to do is follow what I posted before. Drag and drop a VOB onto FixVTS and press "Full Disc" or press the "Analysis" button on DVD Shrink and the problem will go away.
I did Stealth with both the AC3 and DTS track and I only had to compress it 95%. Here are 2 screenshots you should look at. Notice the parts that are circled in each pic:
In this one, I circled the total size of the DVD with only the English AC3. I also circled the sizes of the audio anfd subtitle tracks that are still on the movie.
On this pic, I circled the compression bar at max compression along with the value of 47.8% compression. On mhcq2002's link it shows that the movie only compresses to 99.2%. I also circled the video size to show that is goes down to 1,541MB, which is a lot lower than 4,588MB.
After you process the DVD with FixVTS, it should give you very similar numbers.
Oh, and if you want to keep the Extra features, process the menu with MenuShrink. This way you should still get the movie with 100% compression.
