I have a No Solder MOD chip installed in my PS2. I have been playing backuped CD games for years using game shark. The gameshark wont read anymore do to scratches, so my question is. Do I buy another game shark CD? will it play DVD backups? I believe the Gameshark is CD ver. not DVD because the back of the disc is black. Does that make a difference in loading DVD games? Can I make a backup of my gameshark CD I have and be able to play it?
If you could anyswer any of these questions it would be great..
Thanks In Advance

Scroll to the bottom of these .PDF (acrobat reader) files to find the instructions on booting with gameshark. Depending on what no-solder mod you have you should read the corresponding .PDF.

ps: swap magic might work better with the no-solder mod & dvd game backups.

What kind of mod chip do you have that you still need
to ise a boot disc?
Should have bought a DMS4 EZI Pro chip
But i would get some swap magic discs, as they will come in a set.
one for CD and one for DVD games

Nah, I made that mistake before too steimy..thinking that they actually meant a no-solder mod chip... what it is is a circuit board that basically lets you eject the tray of the ps2 without it resetting... I've taken to calling it an "eject chip" to save confusion :)

I have no experience of the mod you are using, but would think that the best option would be to get the swap magic discs, especially as there aren't many people using the method you are.. that way you can get help with your backups if you need it through this site a lot easier as someone will probably have already thought of a solution to it with swap magic as opposed to not many or no-one being able to anser your questions on whether a game will work with gameshark.

Hope that made sense and helped you out :)

In the traditional sense of the word "mod-chip"means "modification chip" whether that means changing the mechanics of the eject switch or fixing your ps2 slim's spikes it doesn?t matter they are all modchips that includes the modchips everyone is familiar with such as dms, matrix, crystal, O2, ripper, myth...ect.

Yes I know that... I was just saying that, so as not to confuse it with the no-solder modchips that clip onto the existing chips instead of soldering... it's a bit confusing if they're both called no solder modchips right? so that's why I have taken to describing them as "eject chips".. the word chip in there obviously refers to "modchip"

Whatever... I'll do things my way, you do things yours.. don't criticise someone else for trying to make it clearer for any noobs reading this that he wasn't using a "modchip" as we call them.

Don?t take it so personally. Besides I was not criticizing anyone; is it not ok to have different opinions if that works for you then good :) I was only giving an answer to your question.

I'm not taking it personally.. I've had a few people argue on here with me sometimes, and when I'm wrong I fess up to it.. I admit that I don't know everything. In this case I wasn't wrong, I just call it something different to make a distinction between one type and another.
I know a bit about modchips.... maybe not as much as you, but hell i'm just trying to help out on here the best I can and for the most part I help a lot of people.

Hey where've you been anyway? haven't seen any posts by you for a while? anyway, no hard feelings.. we just call them different things is all, LOL.
