Memorex are considered to one of the WORST media you can get.. and to be honest there's not much point in getting 16x discs either as the max you'll want to burn is 4x, so get some 8x discs next time as they're probably the best speed you can get.
Fuji, I'm not sure about.. open up DVD Decrypter and pop in a blank dvd and copy and paste what comes up in the window.. should look something like this:-

Well, the Fuji media should be ok if that's the code you get from them.. it's not the best media, but still pretty good... Your burner is a pretty good one too, have you got the latest firmware for it?
What I'd do, this is only a personal opinion:-
Get some DVD-R discs instead of the DVD+R and get 8x.
Or, try booktyping the DVD+R to dvd-rom, then it might work for you that way... but remember to burn at 4x on those discs... and ditch the memorex, they are utter crap and you'll only get problems in the future with those.
If you want to know how to booktype, I think alkohol has written a guide about it either on this forum or one of the movie forums like DVD Shrink etc... just search for booktyping or bitsetting.
It's not complicated to do (if your burner allows it - which yours should), but might be easier for you with the images he provides that I haven't got time to do right now.
Also, depending on what the game is, it might need rebuilding to work with swap magic.. do a search for the game to see if anyone mentions that it needs rebuilding.
good luck with it and if you have any more problems or questions I'll try and help you further.

Oh well, no worries - you might have wanted to get it in the future for something anyway, I've heard it's got a lot of great features on it and have been thinking about getting it myself.. but at the moment, between all the free software I have and Nero 6 I can do anything I want anyway.. the only reason I might get Nero 7 is to get Nero recode2 for movie editing etc.

ok i got the games to work on a 16x by changing the book type but the load screens take forever, it sounds like my ps2 is working itself todeath trying to find the next load. also when i go to change my booktype it only give me two options to choose from: next write or current media (for DVD+RW media) how do i get it to let me choose just DVD+R?

paddymail http://www.k-probe.com/bitsetting-booktype-faq.php is what i used to begin with, the first game that i tried worked on a 16x memerox using the booktype but had very slow loading screens the second one was back like before (burning fine, magic swap fine, but never loading the game.) any other things to try? do you think that it is the 16x media or is it just the media itself, i tried the fuji 16x and my ps2 says not a valid disc?

@alpajl - The simplest solution if booktyping isn't working for you is to buy some DVD-R media of a good brand like taiyo yuden or verbatim... I always use DVD-R and never have any problems.
You could also update your firmware if you haven't already, this can sometimes make a big difference.. and I recommend doing it anyway as it improves compatability of media and fixes bugs in earlier firmware.

Go to this site and search for your drive's manufacturer and model number http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php
Read the disclaimer about no-one but you being responsible for any problems occuring when flashing your drive with new firmware.
And read ALL instructions associated with flashing your drive with the new firmware and follow them accurately.
[edit] Did you buy some better media? all your problems could be because of the memorex you were using.
