Sometimes when I am playing world of warcraft my computer lockes up and goes to a black screen and saying signal out of range.I know this has something to do with my refresh rate on my monitor and i have read some things about resetting it but really dont understand what to do. Anyone know what to do to fix that?

if your using a high resolution to play the game thats probably whats causing it. try using a lower screen res

I am using 1024/786. The error says out of range then gives these numbers H:1khz V:1240HZ
I have the refresh rate now set on 75 instead of 85 to see if that will fix this.

to be fair the monitor shouldnt have any problems displaying in 1024x768. what is the brand and model number of your monitor?

It is a iiyama model LS902UT and is only 2,5 years old. I never had the problem before in my other computer. When i got my new computer built and a new gf card. GForce 6800LE-256mb that is when this started happening in WoW.

If you max refresh rate is 80Hertz, then i would definatly lower your refresh rate to lower than 70 to comprimise with your screen resolution.

I have a TFT that says it can have a refresh rate of 90Hertz, and a max resolution of 1280x1024. The thing is, you can have both settings on full, this would sometimes ruin your monitor!
So i have it on 70Hertz at 1280x1024, and it runs like a dream.
Try lowering either or both the refresh rate and the screen resolution.

I updated the driver for the monitor from the iiyama site.
Now i can have a refresh rate of 100. Should I try that as well?

try lower refresh rates not higher. if high ones are going out of range then go lower.

update your graphics card drivers aswell

Hi,

I suppose your problem could be 'black screen'-feature of GF6800le. See this link for explanation:

http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=59391

If your card is *affected* only final solution is either RMA card (if possible) or perform modifications explained in that link

----

Some questions:

- What brand your card is: MSI/GW/...
- Have you tried out some other games listed in that link e.g. Half-Life 2
