I am a newb. I want to play import back up games but don't know which one to use, Swap disc or mod chip. Swap disc is much cheaper, is there any different between the function of swap disc and mod chip? I heard swap disc plays at a slower speed. I also worry about messing my ps2 up by taking it apart when installing the mod chip. Any recommendation? Thanks.

Find a reliable person to do the modchip installation. Swap Discs aren't always compatible with certain games.

Swap Magic is 100 times more easy (easy installation, easy to use). I personaly recomend swap discs, and is you rebuild the game all games are compatibles. Mod chip instalation is a risc.

it's your choice man, if you wanna take the risk of messing up your ps 2 take the mod chip, if you want it safe use the swap disk, but my choice would be the swap disk

What is worst: a cracked PS2 by the incorrect installation of a mod chip or some little more time rebuilding a game (is fast yo).

my friend has had swap magic for around a year without any problems. i have been using it for months with no problem.

another benefit of having swap magic is that it doesn't void waranty. so if u need any reapairs u can get official sony guys to do it. if u have a mod chip in it they won't touch ur ps2 with a barge pole.

well, lets see.

Swap magic 3.6 - Cheap, easy to use, might ruin warranty because depends what you use to use swap maigc, little rebuilding of games, and cheap

Ruin warranty with Swap magic - Flip top, tape and tissue/more tape mod.

No ruin warranty - Magic Keys/slide card

Mod Chip - exspensive , guarenteed no more warranty, possible chance of blowing up you ps2, well if you solder it yourself hahhaaahah, no rebulding of games, cost of Dual layer dvd's for dual layer games which isnt that much anyway, gotta wait for them to install it than ship it back to you and exspensive.

Peen!
