That's cool I added a couple questions to my FAQ about Firmware and Media ID. Cowboy Bebop is a classic. I've seen it through 3 times. Berserk is great, but it may have the worst ending of all time as far as anime goes. Not trying to spoil it, but you should be warned. The rest of the series is so good it doesn't matter though. I don't give RahXephon my number one all time ranking lightly. A lot of people compare it to Evangelion, but the similarities are only skin deep. RahXephon is so deep, complex, and beautiful, words don't really do it justice. It grabbed me from episode 1 and never lemme go until episode 26. I watched it slowly so could think about it. You could easily watch the whole series in a couple sittings. There's a couple of people on AD I'd liked to call out as being a**holes, but they're not around much anymore, and they know who they are. 90% of people here are nice. I'm 20 posts from being an AD Addict. Then people will assume I know everything, as you suggested. Hell I get enough of that as is. People seem to be amazed when I don't know the answer to a question lol. I'm only one man. Anyway, I need to play some DQVIII, I'm getting ADed out for the day. Peace.

Yeah, enjoy your free time man.. I'm gonna give AD a little of my time today and then chill for a while, been on here too much lately and don't get much else done. I've got 5 dvd's to burn at some point today too :)

I think I'll watch beserk, also I'm getting final fantasy unlimited series.. vampire princess miyu, ghost in the shell stand alone complex.. but it doesn't have vol4 for some reason??, serial experiments lain, hellsing and last exile series too :)

I'll have a look through your FAQ's and see if I can suggest anything to add in there.. but probably not, you've done a good job there man :)

Ok, catch you later.. hey Tokijin, what's your name in TM and XS websites?.. mine's the same as on here.

I'll go and edit out my posts too, he has helped a lot of people. As far as HDadvance goes, the most I seem to have gotten was about compatibility issues, but I just gave them a link to ps2hd.com as it is quite similar. I've had a few where they've asked how to put games on their HDD through PC or though LAN so they can boot it up using HDA, but I think I've seen that in your FAQ. If you want, you can link to my guide about extracting music, but I have to update that with an easier way. Theres this program called adxutil thats like an all in one, where as the guide I wrote involves 4 programs lol. I'm also thinking about listing games that can have the music ripped with that app. I don't think anyones written a guide for replacing music on PS2 games, I mean it can be found on the net, but I don't think anyone here on AD has typed it out in another way or whatever.

Yeah that's cool thanks for the input. I'm just getting to the interesting part of DQVIII anyway. Anything you could suggest for my FAQ would be cool. Don't strain too hard, I just wanted to get it up to 100 questions lol. I've some games to "back up" myself. Let's see, Full Metal Alchemist 1 and 2, the original Spiderman, and God of War. I don't know how I forgot about that one. I'll definitely have to play GOW, especially since I've heard nothing but great stuff about it. I can back up it to high quality Verbatim DL DVD+R's, and as luck would have it, I have one left. :) Peace.

Wow, can't believe you haven't done GOW yet, LOL... I think mine was about maybe the 20th game I backed up.. did the DVD5 rebuild and worked a treat, only had 1 minor annoyance in the whole burn.
I played a bit of .hack//infection today, didn't really like it though - I guess I'm just too used to the reaslly awesome games that ps2 has now and that game seems a bit outdated now. Might give it another go some other time when I'm really bored or something, LOL.
I only started playing GUN about 3 weeks after I got it.. then completed it in like 3 days... quite a short game I thought, but good nonetheless.
Ok well catch you guys later...

Oh I forgot to mention my nick for Teammodders.com is Lord Sesshomaru and I'm not a member of XS. I hardly ever frequent the TM boards, they seem to have more moderators than posts. Maybe that's changed of late. I just backed up GOW. I'm not one to boast, but check out this beautiful quality score. I downloaded a version that was already rebuilt to DVD-5. I actually looked for the DVD-9 version, but could only find the PAL DVD-9 version. Oh well, from what I read all they took out was some bonus movies anyway, what a loss. It seems like a kick arse game. Definitely might have to give it a go. Anyways this is pretty, so pretty lol :

Wow, never seen a 100% score before... most I've got was 97% off a cmc mag AE disc.. which was pretty good considering... and no jitter, but then again I don't get jitter on any of my discs. I usually get a 95% score for my verbs with TYG02 dye and ritekG05's burned at maximum speed... doesn't seem to make much difference whether I burn them at 4 or 8x, so might as well burn them at 8... for movies that is, I still stick to 4x or 6x for ps2 games.

Yeah, they don't have many posts on there at the minute, especially the ps2 forums, but then we don't get many a**holes on there either, LOL... I like the fact that it's more of a community there and people help each other and pass on good info. The reason they don't get many posts I think is that mostly everyone knows what they're doing who visit that site.. and all the newbs come to this site thankfully.

I didn't look at your FAQ's yet, was busy yesterday working on a new avatar and stuff. Catch you later

That's cool. It might be neat to step up my modchip knowledge a little. I learned a lot thru DavBere. He did my PS2, and I became friends with him thru MSN Messenger. I know Steimy, Hursty, DavBere, and Pimp Dawg, so I'd probably get along fine with most of the peeps over there. I'll check it out some time. Almost all my quality scores are 100 lately. Sounds stupid, but I'm almost worried that something is wrong with my CD/DVD speed scans. I just scanned an episode of FMA that I backed up on Ritek G05's and that came out to 100. I do have a newer burner with the latest firmware. I also shut everything down while burning. So maybe it's not that surprising. Do you shut down all programs while burning? I used leave a bunch of stuff running while burning, but then I checked some my backups. I actually got a 78 score on my copy of Madden 2006 backed up on TYG02! That's terrible. I've never gotten below a 95 with everything shut down. So what DVD's have you backed up lately? I'm off to bed, got class all day today. Peace.

I know of all the guys you listed, but the only one I have really chatted to is steimy.. good guy he is :)

I shouldn't think there's anything wrong with your burner or scans or anything, you just lucked out and got a real good laser etc I should think. I don't turn everything off.. I suggest it for the newbs who are having problems with their burns though.. I turn off my internet and DVD43 and maybe sometimes my spyware doctor.. but leave my AV on most of the time... just because I don't want to forget to put them on again and then connect to the internet, LOL. I have this cool program called "enditall" that'll make it easier for you to turn off all the non-essential apps... but then it's a PITA (pain in the ass) to have to turn them all on again..so if I'm gonna be burning a load of stuff, I'll leave it until I'm finished on the net etc and then use that prog.. then burn my stuff and then restart my computer to turn everything on again as it's easier that way :)

The dvd's I backed up lately have been, cowboy bebop, van helsing, national treasure and cold mountain.. yesterday. Recently did fantastic 4, anchorman, constantine, man on fire, the incredibles, green day's bullet in a bible dvd, the 40 yr old virgin, kicking and screaming, white chicks.... and green street, awesome movie that.. don't know if it's out in the US yet and I think it's renamed "hooligans" for you guys too.
I regularly back up around 10 movies or so per week... just haven't got hold of many new ones lately.
Ok, well have a good day, catch you later

Yeah Steimy is cool. I consulted with him before I got a modchip, and he pointed me to teammodders.com. I originally wanted a DMS 4 Pro, but Davbere said my v.4 motherboard just didn't get along with it. It would produce the occasional Black Screen. I told him hell no, so he put in the Matrix, and the rest is history. I never really told anybody this, but after he sent it back to me, it didn't work. Natch I was pissed and sent it back to him. It was a minor thing, something like a dial that needed to turned or something. The postal service was closed the day he was going to send it back, so he paid like $70 out of his own pocket to Fedex it to me overnight! It's worked perfectly since then, so I try to throw as much business to teammodders.com as possible. Not just because of that though, they genuinely are one of the best mod sites on the net. So is there a Ms. Paddymail? I live in a small hick town where most women are white trash or pregnant. The one's that aren't have boyfriends already. Damn you cursed relationship gods lol! Anyways Cheers!

The girls where I live are pretty cool. I haven't gone out lately, family thing going on right now. Oh hey I forgot to mention, my teammodders.com handle is Ofnir1. I haven't been there as much as AD though. About teammodders.com, there was a bit of a mix up that I haven't told anyone about either. My mom had sent my PS2 from her work cuz she gets a discount on shipping there, and I had sent an email to DaveBere saying it would be coming from there. 3 days after UPS confirmed delivery, I emailed him on Saturday about the status of my PS2 and he said he has one there but didn't know who's it was. So I scanned the shipping label and sent him the pic of it, along with the return shipping address (my place), and a couple of hours later he replied saying he installed the chip and sent it back. On the 4th of this month I emailed him again asking for a shipping number, and after I got that I checked online for it and USPS confirmed delivery on the 29th of December saying they shipped it to my moms work! So I called my mom saying it must be there, and it was, for 6 days. The workers had no idea who's it was and was about to send it back, but thankfully I got it back. I could tell there was a mix up, and that DaveBere wasn't shady about it. So next time I order from him, I'm keeping everything in one email, and the return shipping the same as the billing info.

Yeah minor mix ups like that will happen. Davbere was real busy over the holiday season. Oh well. Hey Paddymail, could you do me a favor? Could you try backing up Dragon Quest VIII using the rebuild guide I just posted in my FAQ? That game has caused people a shite load of problems and I need a Swap Magic user to confirm that it works. You don't have to, but if you have the time, I'd appreciate it. Thanks either way. So Ofnir how are your GED classes going? I had 6 hours of class today. My schedule is good though, class Monday and Wednesday, no class the rest of the week. Anyway cheers!

Yeah Davebere and the guys at TM are ok.. I've always only heard good things about them..... If I lived in the US I'd definitely get a modchip installed by Dave, I've seen the soldering work he does and it's not bad at all (I used to do electroincs at college so know a good solder when I see one, LOL) Every business has their minor problems from time to time, and at least with TM and Davebere you can rest assured the problem(if there is one) will be sorted as quickly as possible.

No, no Mrs Paddy at the minute... I got almost the same problem as you - I live in a small town(village actually) and there aren't that many women around either, or they're married already etc... I'm probably gonna move to the city sometime this year though because of the work situation so who knows, LOL. That's if I don't win the lotto or move to Australia in the meantime :) It's £70,000,000 jackpot tomorrow on the lotto... that's about $110,000,000... I think that'd be enough to start my computer business up maybe, LOL.

I haven't got DQVIII at the minute Tokijin, but sure I'll give it a go when I can... The only game I haven't been able to backup so far has been GT4, even with alkohols guide(which just used a few different ways to sonix's).. so given up on that one at the minute. I'm actually trying to work out a way to boot a DVD9 with SM3.6 at the minute... don't know if it'll work, but in theory it should.

catch you later guys

Hey Tokijin I just passed my Science test today, now I only have 2 more to go, writing and math. Math shouldn't take too long, there's just a few things I need to study for that. Yeah I can understand Dave being busy through the holiday season and all, I wasn't angry at him or anything like that. Oh yeah, I sent my PS2 in without the bezel cuz it comes of easily and Dave put a new one on, so I thought that was really cool of him. Hey maybe my friend will let me try Dragon Quest VIII on his PS2, in fact I'll probably give him my Swap Magic 2.0 now that I have a modchip lol.

Just a thoght, but has anyone used the Toxic DualLayer patch along with a DVD-9 to refresh the TOC? I mean like SM 3.6>DVD-9 original>DVD-9 backup with TDL patch. I think it should work, although I don't have a dual layer burner so I can't test it out lol. Man... Australia sounds really good right about now :D.

Hey I just seen your AfterDawn Addict status now Tokijin, cool!

Yeah, that's kinda the way I was thinking of doing it.. except instead of using an original for the TOC swap, create a really high TOC backup DVD-9, so then it should load any DVD-9 game... theoretically anyway, it's worth a try at any rate. I'm gonna have a good 'ol mess around with it and see what I can come up with.

Yeah, congrats on becoming an AD addict Tokijin... i'm still only half way there at the moment as I don't reply to as many posts... even across several forums, Mainly because answering the same questions time after time makes my brain melt through boredom, LOL.

That would be pretty sweet for Swap Magic users if their was a way to boot DVD-9 games. I know what ya mean about answering too many posts. I had some jerkoff in the Rugby League 2 thread try to tell me I didn't know jack about modchips. He claimed the Ghost 2 chip was the best, and that DMS chips were crap. Really got my goat. Most of the info I got on modchips came straight from pro modders, and not a single one has ever mentioned the Ghost 2 chip. I've talked to three pro modders and they all listed the top three chips to be the DMS 4, Matrix Infinity, and the Crystal Chip, not in any particular order. Stupid really, but I called him out and he didn't have a lot to say back. People like that make me not want to help anybody. Glad to hear your GED classes are going well Ofnir. It's definitely important to your GED at some point. Almost any decent paying job requires one. I had a lot of friends who didn't finish H.S. and ended up with a GED. It's nothing to be ashamed of. I didn't go through my smoking and drinking phase til my college years. Came out of that a couple years ago, thank God. Yeah I don't know if being AD addict is a good thing Paddymail. I've been accused of thinking I know everything a couple times. I guess when you answer as many posts as I do, it just makes you an easy target for people with nothing better to do. Ah well F**k em all. So what are the odds of your console getting stopped at customs and them checking it for a chip? Or did you mean the chip itself would be intercepted? It's pretty silly modchips are legal in the states and not in the U.K. We allow guns, capital punishment, and modchips. You guys have no guns (kudos), violence, or modchips. What's the general feeling about American's in the U.K.? Do most people over there hate us, or just Bush? I hate the latter as much as any foriegner. Ah well, don't want to get Patriot Acted out to Mexico lol. Cheers!

Yeah, it'd be sweet if I could get it to work, theoretically there shouldn't be anything stopping it from working... sm will boot dvd-9 originals as I tested it.. so if you have a dvd-9 TOC disc that's high enough and maybe ahve to change the system file in the backup etc.. then it should be ok... but will see if it works when I can, and if it doesn't no big deal, just want to try it... I've been saying for a long time that dvd-9 backups won't work with sm, but just want to give it a go.
Some people will try to belittle you and say "oh you think you're god, blah blah blah" just because you have AD addict status, I have had the same thing too... but it just goes to show how little they really know doesn't it. I mean, there could be the dumbest person in the world with an AD addict status, just because they post a lot... and there could be a genius with an IQ of 180 that knows an awful lot about everything who only had newbie status... AD is post count based, so doesn't really give a good indication of what a person knows/doesn't know. I think in your case though, it's worked out ok... you take the time to try and help people and research a subject.. which shows that you know what you're doing.

Well, if I took my console with me and got it chipped abroad, they probably wouldn't bet an eyelid about it coming through customs.. if on the other hand I had a chip shipped over it might not be too bad, depending on the company.. if they listed it as a chip on the customs form, then that'd be bad as I'd probably get fined or worse for trying to import restricted materials. If I bought it from the UK, then no chance of customs getting involved... but if the place that's selling them got nailed, then they might trace me too.
My best option really would be to get a friend to mail me the chip and lie on the customs form, just put "gift" or something... or just go to Holland or somewhere, which is only an hour by plane from me..get it chipped there where it's legal and have a short break too... then fly home with my chipped console.

Just because we (supposedly) don't have guns(the crims get them if they want them).. doesn't mean we don't have violence, there's plenty to go around here believe me!! And don't even get me started on the whole "protecting yourself and your home" argument, we're not allowed to do jack here... if I broke a guys arm that was trying to hurt me, or worse killed him(accidentally of course) - I could go to prison for protecting myself.. sucks huh??

[This part edited out, so as not to offend anyone with my political views]

Hey, I'll Pm you with my e-mail addy... then we can mail without telling the rest of the world our views, LOL.

Yeah that's a good idea. I'm surprised the mods haven't dropped in and said something about being off topic. Then again I've talked to a couple of them and they seem like nice people. They don't just ban people to ban them, they have a good reason first. I think it's funny here it says "inactive" instead of banned. Anyway take care.

Try burning it with Alcohol 120%.

88. Q. How do I burn PS2 DVD games with Alcohol 120%?
A. Ripping the game to your Hard Drive:

1. Insert your disc.
2. Open Alcohol 120%.
3. Click Image Making Wizard.
4. Check Ignore read errors, select your recorder, leave the never seperate box alone.
5. Click Next. Select a destination for the game. Click Start.
Once the process is complete, you'll get an mds and an mdf file. Click finish, if necessary.

Burning the game to DVD:
1. Insert your blank disc.
2. Right click the mdf file.
3. Select Image Burning Wizard.
4. Select your recorder, set the write speed to 4x.
5. Click next.

Note: I use Alcohol 120% as my backup program for ripping scratched originals. DVD Decrypter can be picky with scratched discs. I use DVD Decrypter to burn the mds file. For purposes of this guide, I'm assuming you are you using Alcohol 120% to burn the game to disc. Feel free to use whatever works for you.

LOL patriot acted, I wouldn't want that too, I could only imagine a lecture with a bunch of spoonerisms from ol' mighty Bush himself haha. That guy who mentioned the Ghost 2 chip is probably dazzeled by the name. g g g GHOST....2...lol. Hey thanks Tokijin, I should be getting my GED in about a month or so. Maybe a bit longer though, the testing times aren't that convenient for me, but I can make due. The only time I drink is when I'm with friends, I don't really bother getting any myself, unless I'm getting some for a party of course. How does Customs work anyways? From what I remember, they check items going in and out of the border. Do they physically open a package or just scan it through a big machine? There would be a form to go with it, so of course it can't say chip lol. If it has to go through customs, I bet if you put a Spongebob sticker on the package, they'd probably laugh instead of suspecting it LOL.

That's good. I'm sure you'll get them done. Congrats to Paddy, he got a job offer from XS. I won't go into further detail, he may not be wanting me to blab it to the forums lol. I don't know how Customs works in the U.K. In the U.S. it's kind of a joke. There are hundereds of miles of unmanned territory between us and Canada. Same goes for Mexico. Our borders are not safe, I don't care what our gov't says. If terrorists want to get something into the country bad enough, they can and will. Even if they do go through a customs check point, they're not going to go through New York or Detroit, they're going to go through small podunk check points in the middle of nowhere, that don't have the technology or know how to catch them anyway. I don't say all this to scare you, it's just a fact. The gov't doesn't like this stuff brought to the public eye. It's best not to think about it much, there's little you or I can do about it. Anyway keep plugging away with those GED classes. Do you have any plans to go school or anything?

Thanks Tokijin. I was thinking of getting a job afterwards for about a year or so. I do want to go to college, and I may have to go there first if the Air Force don't accept GED graduates. It's no problem though, I want to go anyways. How about you? What are your plans after school? Just hearing about how bad our border protection is makes me wanna give 'em a scare so they tighten it up lol. Of course doing so would result in having an officer there for a night and that's it LOL. Hey maybe I can smuggle in my own fighter jet, the SU-27 will do just fine haha. Imagine you just put a tarp over it and one of em asks what it is, "It's my semi-truck, just got it repaired" "Oh OK! Go on ahead!" LOL
