I know, not another type setting question, but I'm stuck here. I have a Benq DW1640 and have tried to type set to DVD-ROM with DVD Decrypter and Shrink. I set it, it says change complete, but I check the disk after it's done and it's still a DVD+R. My fimware is up to date, can't say what version right now (at work). I don't know what else to do, I've tried several times. Also, I use DVDClone2 a lot and was wondering if there's a way to chage type setting on it as well. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I think what you are trying to do is Booktype...what program is telling you that your burn is still a DVD+R? DVD Decrypter in ISO read mode will give you two results: The top section will list the physical format of the disc (+R), if you scroll down a bit it will give you the last recorded format of the disc(DVD-Rom) if the booktype has been successful.

Thanks for the reply. Sorry, had a brain fart, yes I'm talking about booktype. Yeah, DVD Decrypter tells me it's a DVD+R, but I also have VSO Inspector and it says the same thing. This is really puzzling. Anyone have ideas?

Yeah, QSuite or booktype management utility is the way to go with your benq. Set it and forget it.

I also have the Benq-1640, and QSuite works perfectly with it, naturally. Like someone mentioned, "set it and forget it".
Like Mort mentioned, get Identifier.
Good luck,
Rich

Thanks to everyone for the replies. I got Identifier and it shows the booktype as DVD-ROM, so it seems to be working! Thanks again, I can always count on AD.
