Now, since you want DVD to VCD, I suggest you try my guide, it's perfect for newbies, and uses all the free software out there!

Regarding your questions, 16:9 Display is more general and fits all movies, PAL or NTSC, while NTSC is specificly for that format.

As for CDRDao, it comes with VCDEasy, and you don't have to use that for burning, once you create the Bin/Cue files, you can use alot of other alternatives.

Yes, i've noticed the difference when playing the MPG file using Media Player in full screen, the movie only keeps the aspect when using a window, but when switching to full screen, i've noticed the aspect ratio is bad when not using the aspect ratio 2 settings.

sefy, you show authoring( with vcdeasy) after tmpgenc in one of your guides. ive been going from tmpgenc right to nero for burning. is this wrong. please explain the purpose of authoring.

The purpose of Authoring is to create a 100% compatible VCD files, and to even add True Chapters (almost like DVD) so you can skip from chapter to chapter in the movie, those are options you can't do with NERO.

There is nothing wrong with using NERO to just burn the MPG into VCD.
