The advantage of Mod Chip over Swap Disc

any difference between the function of Mod Chip and Swap Disc?
I heard Mod Chip is faster than Swap Disc.

With a modchip you put in the backup and it works, with swapmagic you have to swap discs at least once. Swapmagic requires you to rebuild certain games, while a modchip just plays them. A proper modchip will also give you options for using a hdd (if you have a fat ps2, that is)
