I recorded an MPG movie but the volume was set too low. Now that I have the file, I need to boost the audio. What would be the easiest way to do this?

Thanks.

good question...... I'd like to know, too. I have plenty of backups that I would love to make louder than what was recorded.

I think I found a way.

1. Use TEMPGENC (MPEG tools in the FILE drop down menus) to SIMPLE DEMULTIPLEX the file. You will get a .M2V and a .MP2 file.

2. Use audio conversion software to convert the file to .MP3. I am away from home and cannot remember the program I used for this but it did it without altering the quality of the MP2 file at all.

3. Use MP3 AUDIOGAIN (free) to NORMALIZE the .MP3 file.

4. Use the audio conversion software to covert the .MP3 file back to .MP2

5. Use TEMPGENC to SIMPLE MULTIPLEX the .M2V and the .MP2 files back together again.

I got NO distortion, NO problems and NO sync problems! It went well.

A lot of other software I tried totally trashed the MP2 file and the resulting MP3 or reverse conversion was full of whines, whistles and irritating noises.

This was all done on a file that was 2 Gigs big (the MPG file). The entire project took less than 15 minutes.

Hope this helps.
