Dvd burner will not burn to 8x dvds...help!

I have a Memorex 2.4x dvd+r/rw, and i have been triing to burn to 8x dvds today and it's not happening at all. I can burn to 4x fine. I need to know instructions on how to flash my drive to be able to burn to higher speed dvd disk. Where do i go to get what for this? The dvd's i burn to are RitekRidata. What i been using to burn to dvds are either Nero and DvdDecrypter.

All you do, if there is one, is download to the desktop, doubleclick on it and it should self install.

i went there and clicked on the version that my burner is (1.27) downloaded it and sent to desktop and flashed it. Still the same results....will not burn to 8x disk, burn to 4x with no problem. So is it that i may need to try a different brand like Maxell 8x or try and get some Verbatims? I was thinking of just getting a new burner and away from this 2.4x.

I have an 8x Memorex burner, and it wont work with 16x disc. I updated the firmware and tried to contact memorex, but they wont reply. So I'm guessing get a new burner and not another memorex.

Ok, one more question. On the firmware website, it has other versions for my burner(mines being the 1.27) am i supposed to use the latest one they have which is version 1.72 or am i stuck with the 1.27 version? Would this be correct and may allow my burner to burn to 8x disk?
Someone set me straight bout this please.

I went ahead and figured it out. Was afraid i was gonna ruin something while flashing. I just went ahead and installed all them one-by-one till the last one and now i am able to burn successfully to 8x disk.
