So last week I decided to write a FAQS thing ? and I?ve only just got round to doing it. Anyways this is hopefully going to stop all the same questions been asked over and over and hopefully this will stay on the main page for a while so peeps can see it.
This guide should cover all the basics ? if you think I have missed something out just give me a shout and ill add it in.

1. What is firmware?
Every PSP has firmware - this is like your PSP?s operating system
2. What firmware do I have?
If you switch on your psp and scroll across to settings ? then down to system settings ? then down to system information ? it will say ?System software Version x.xx? where the x?s are that is what firmware you have
3. What firmware version can I downgrade to 1.5 and how do I do it?

4. where can i download the latest updates for my psp?

Homebrew
5. what is homebrew?
Homebrew is unsigned code/program (not made by sony or any other games company) that can be run on certain psp?s. i.e. emulators and games
6. what firmware can I run homebrew on?

ISO?s are an image of a CD,DVD or in this case a UMD (game or movie)
9. what version psp do I need to run ISO?s
only on v1.5 - dont ask about other firmware because it ONLY on 1.5
10. so I have a game and I want to make an ISO, how do I do this? And how do I run it afterwards?

1. can I downgrade my 2.01,2.5,2.6 PSP?
No, as stated above. You can only downgrade version 2.0 psp?s
2. but I heard/have seen a video showing how to downgrade 2.01?
this is fake ? the maker of the video had a version 2.0 psp used a version changer to make it look like a psp v2.01 the just used the normal (for v2.0) MPH downgrade to downgrade to 1.5
3. the GTA exploit though?.?

DVD to PSP
1. what video format does the psp use?
The psp uses the MP4 video format
2. what program do I use to create a MP4
The best program I have found for converting video files into MP4 for use with psp is pspvideo9 http://www.pspvideo9.com this is freeware so you do not have to pay for it
3. I have a psp and I want to put a DVD onto it, how do I do this? Also my file keeps splitting into multiple files

4. I have some files (I found*cough*) already in MP4 format. I placed them on the psp ? but there not showing up. What?s wrong?
First of all you need to make a folder called MP_ROOT in the root directory of the psp ? you then need to create a folder called 100MNV01 inside the MP_ROOT folder
And you need to call you video file M4V100XX replacing the XX with any numbers you want and then place it in the 100MNV01 folder
5. Its still not working!!!!!

Not only is this illegal but its against forum rules ? nobody will help you on this subject ? not here anyway

1. can I use my USB to get my psp on the net?
No you can only use the psp's internet via a wireless router or you can now use Datels "Wifi MAX" (google it) wifi max connects to your pc via the usb port - and apparantley is faster
2. How do I get my psp onto the internet then?

Good thinking RavenLife. I was getting sick of seeing the same questions over and over again as well. Tried to help some at first, but it gets old quickly when people don't make an attempt to search first.

Nice guides m8.... How do I play tetris and where do I get it? Does this work on only 2.5 or 2.6 also?
It might not be much but as I only own 2 games it will be good to play something else for a change!

That is not actually 100% ture there is a site I have heard of that is offering PSP movies for download legally for a small cost though I can't remember the site. Also they are not exactly what you would call top of the range movies.

if a site is asking for money to download it will still be illegal - unless its something like itunes and most likely it will be a scam

Nono its not one of those crappy sites asks u for money to download stuff like that.
Its a proper legal service like itunes etc, I believe it only has a few movies available for psp at the moment but more are meant to be coming.
I'll see if i can find the link.

In response to the Question about the Legit Downloading site. I have one here. if this is against the rules im sorry and I will delete if so. Im just posting to confirm there is sites offering downloads. well here it is.. theres also more ....just search Yahoo. "psp" and then look at the sites yahoo offers at the bottom...

im new to psp(noob) and had not get my hands on it...i finally got enough money but decided not to buy first...instead id like to ask the pros and expert first
if i want to buy a new psp, id wonder whats the price will range and what version should i get and what accessories should i get with it

well i do suggest you buy one as its a great peice of kit
is there anything i would rather spen £200 on? yes probably i got mine as a crimbo prezzie from my boyfriend the money would have gone on bills other wise
you want a version 2.0 or 1.5 ask the guy in the shop to check for you and he will (if he wont tell him you wont buy one untill you find out) alls he cares about is his bonus so he'll tell you

i have games already on my pc given to us from a friend but i dont know how to transfer them to my psp, as i have fried everthing, maybe im missing something. i already have movies and songs and that was easy.
