Hi at first my isp was great (talktalk) but slowly they started bring in fair usage rules. But now they have totally stopped all people using P2P, is there anything i can do to get around it as its gonna cost me £70 to end my contract and get my MAC code..

thanks

Spliffman,

Unfortunately, youre probably gonna have to take the 70 dollar hit, and live and learn...

ok m8 thats what i thought.

The bad thing is there website advertises 2mb unlimited connection. It actually states perfect for Music, Pictures , Movies. But not only do there blocks affect P2P but also effect yahoo , online games , video confrencing.. sorry getting into a rant agian

Thanks for the reply

*NB anyone in the u.k , please read all small print before signing up for broadband as %90 of uk isp's are now using fairusage policy.
And before anyone says serves you right hoggin all the bandwith, it dosent just effect P2P / but other LEGAL activities. The only thing it dont effect is mIRC dunno why.

Peace all and happy easter

AOL is garbage, but it allows me to max out on P2P/Bittorrent. There are no fair-usage rules thus far, so you may want to consider it.. :-)

@ kinel

I migrated over to ZEN on there 2 mbs service . It is costly at £34.99 per month , but im maxing out on news groups at all hours of the day. Plus its only a monthly contract, and there customer service is superb , as is there help on the ADSL guide web site.

They have got there own news server but that seems to be a bit hit and miss, so im also using giga news. Newsgroups seems a bit complex at first bud, but i would never go back to P2P now.

Iv'e been with zen for 2 months and i can honestly say i haven't had 1 problem. Hope this helps

One last thing , MAKE SURE YOU CANCEL YOUR DIRECT DEBIT because the robbers down the carphone warehouse will keep taking your money.

look guys stay away from talktalk. because at first you think theres nothing rong when using BitTornado because your speeds are ok .then after a bit they your speeds realy slow down or evean stop.your isp is capping your download speeds .then you manege to get around it buy using diffront bittorent client one that might be using a java based p2p download then your isp is capping your download speed .your seing plenty of seeds and peers but nothing evan getting green light.so you go looking for ansers looking at your firewall and port conecting.try using port and tracker chekers and you see that everything is ok after the test.so you go looking again then p2p downloading and get load of ansers saying open ports for this that and everything.look il get to the point
first talktalk capped my download speed
then they block my p2p port (ie)
bt client
bittornado
abc
and loads more other ones i have tried.
im going to take splifmans adva and change to zen net i have looket around after him saying that. And they dont capp you but i have gota
wait for that bastard talktalk contrackt to run out so anyone thing of using torrents stay away from talktalk so called unlimitted broadband
false advertising or what . anyway hope this helpt you

Go for Pipex, ive been with them for 2 years at home and they were fantastic. Good customer support. and good speeds. They are also one of the cheapest ive seen. they have seperate contracts for fair use and full use.

I'm with Toucan and because I'm classed as a "heavy user" my bandwidth is managed at peak times but at least they haven't blocked p2p.

For those with ISP's actually blocking p2p does the Protocol Encryption on uTorrent, BitComet or Azureus have any effect or haven't you tried it.
