I've been getting stupid errors lately with my good-quality year-old DVD Burner. I've asked before, and it was thought to be my media, so now I got Taiyo Yuden DVD-rs and the burns still fail with this error. I've been backing-up PS2 games and movie for over 2 years now, and just lately this has been happening, and it's way beyond ticking me off. I'm thinking it's the burner or possibly a software conflict. One other thing I MIGHT think it is is the fact that I only have 200 MB free on my HDD. I have two big image files, and I don't really want to delete either, but I was going to delete one at a time once either one of them successfully burns (which hasn't happened yet obviously.) Should I try to free up some space in other areas or what? How much HDD space is recommended and could this really be the problem? If not, I really don't know what to do. Please help.

And yeah, I started the burn before I saved this log, and it said the disc was still empty, so I tried again, but I got the same error message; it's just that it came up quicker.

Any professional suggestions? Thanks!

Get enditall2 and run it before burning to shut down some processes. If it helps the burn then you may need to look into removing roxio or some of those imulation drives.

Also just fyi it seems your system aspi is old.

Okay, I got another program that frees up memory that I forgot to use before the burn. My Memory In Use is only around 35% now, so that should be more than fine.

I also just got rid of all virtual drives (went to Device Manager and Uninstalled them) except one.

For the System ASPI, I ran ASPICHK and it said everything's alright.

Is there anything else I should do before trying to burn another, because this doesn't seem like much to me, and I don't want to waste yet another good -R.

P.S. If you can't think of anything else, would having only 200 MB of free HDD space have anything to do with it? Basically this is all that I can think of, unless someone very knowledgeable can think and give me a proper solution.

Thanks.

you still need to update nero to 6.6.0.18

get it here - http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/nero-up.php

File 'Drivers\CDRALW2K.SYS': Ver=5.3.2.35, size=23420 bytes, created 10/3/2002 8:00:12 PM

you still have roxio on your computer, uninstall roxio, then use roxio zap to rid of completely

get roxio zap here - http://tools.roxio.com/support/tools/roxizap.exe

peace

Having only 200 MB of free HDD space will definatly create problems - you need room for swap and temporary files - for successful burning 8 to 10 Gb of freespace is recommended.

OK, I'm really about to go out and beat the crap out of somebody. Same freaking thing. It still burns CD-Rs (just did one), but on freaking DVD-Rs, it gets random write errors in the middle of the freaking image, every time! Here's a more complete log from Alcohol 120% when I tried to backup CoD 2: Big Red One.

Now, is the problem all of those .SYS files, or what? Which ones should I remove, and will my computer burn DVDrs afterwards?! I don't want to keep trying things, and in turn wasting a DVDR every time.

I wish that helped, but it didn't. Is all that you're suggesting is that my DVD laser is f'ed? Is that indicitive of going a little bit through any large image file, and just getting a write error like that? It's only about a year-old, and from reputable Lite-On.

IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO?!

Free up some space or buy a new hard drive - 200mb freespace is totally insufficent for DVD burning.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got about 5.5 GB free. Tried again. No. Tried installing all new updated ASPIs. No. Different programs, blah blah.

My burners DVD laser is officially dead or freaking what?

I'm totally disappointed with Lite-On. They're supposed to be good, and this goes and happens like within a year. My CD burner that came with my computer has been used at least 5x as much, and is still going strong.

I guess I'm just waiting for a miracle...

OK, I'm bumping this because I'm still getting the same error after I kind of managed to fix it. I got rid of PXHELP20.sys (I thought), and I burned my first DVD-R in about 6 months (a gamecube backup). I got all happy, and started doing the happy dance. Then, the next day, I tried burning a PS2 ISO, and I'm getting retarded errors again. I think it's just some conflict in the drivers or some crap like that. I KNOW it's not the DVD-R's (they're Yuden's and have worked in the past) or my burner (it's still good, I know it).

Any way to check Drivers and to remove unused ones easily or anything? Can some expert tell me what they'd do in my situation...please.

Thanks!

No man. I made this a LONG LONG time ago, too. I just got the email notification of your post. I just ended up buying a new Sony DVD-Burner, and everything's fine. If you don't want to do that, then reformat your entire computer. If it still doesn't work, then it's your burner, and you're screwed and will have to buy a new one anyway. (The $40 was less than the trouble I'd have to go through to reformat, though).
