Hi
I have made copies of several ps2 games using cheap media (prico dvd-r's), and when i play them the loading time is slow, skips etc.
My question is, if i make copies of these ps2 games, using the princo copies as the source, and burn them onto better media (like ritek), will they run better?
i.e. i copied pro evolution soccer onto a princo cd, if i use that princo cd as the source and make a copy of it using ritek blank media, will it play better?
or do i need to copy the original ps2 game again with new media?

I'm using prico dvd-r's and have had no problems, maybe its your burner? Are you using DVD Decrypter to burn a copy?

u r right princo dvd is really dodgy. if u use dvd decypter to copy ur games on better media ie maxell, taiyo yuden etc. the problems u mentioned will go away.
remember to burn them at half speeds of the disc say 8x then 4x, if 4x then 2x.
c ya!

I doubt it's his burner, Princo's are God awful media. If the original image from the iso is burned to disc is okay (i.e. the original you backed up wasn't horribly scratched or the iso you downloaded was ripped properly) then you should be fine. Definitely invest in some good media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Copy those Princo's onto either brand.

When I first started, I made the mistake of getting princo discs (bad advice from someone on this forum) and they didn't work. I was able to read from the princo's and burn onto a little better media, memorex (more bad advice), and it worked fine.
V9 PS2, flip top, SMD, DVDLoader
Pioneer 107, ritek g05
DVD Shrink, DVD Decrypter, Nero

Well that's good for you. Everybody else use quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Cheap media working is the exception, not the rule.

I used Verbatim a couple of times to backup some of my DVD's and my DVD player would play, thats the reason I stuck with Princo. I will check out the other ones though. Thanks :)

Yeah that wasn't a jab at you or anything, I'd tell anyone using Princos the same thing. Good Luck!

The answer is.... use high quality media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim "advanced azo/datalife plus" or Maxell (mij by Hitachi).
High quality media = no labels = no freezing = free of worries.
High quality DVD+R media = book type to DVD-ROM = burn at 4X = free of worries.
High quality DVD-R media = no freezing = burn at 4X = free of worries.
Crap media = freezing = shit = coasters.
Live and learn.

Hey Alkohol, do you have Dragon Quest VIII? I need someone who has Swap Magic to test out my new rebuild guide for it. All I did was rebuild it with Nero and IsoBuster. My rebuild plays perfectly on my modded PS2, but I have no way to verify that it works with Swap Magic. Someone with your expertise could easily determine if my guide works or not. Is there any way you could test it out for me? If not I understand, but if you have the time I would appreciate it. My rebuild guide is the last question in my FAQ. Either way Cheers!

Dragon Quest VIII? Hmmm... I think I rebuild it or burned it for my nephew 1 or 2 weeks ago. I'll have to ask him how's his backup turns out and I'll check your guide too.
