Overclock Intel P4 150%?
Not with 533/800 FSB. But 100MHz (400QDR) overclocked unbelievably well on this P4-2000 that came to me!
It was cheap-cheap, everything basic and case so cheap, it bent like tinfoil in my hands. I couldn't pick it up with one hand like I usually do...
Anyway, the only thing good about it is the CPU, it was a genuine Northwood 130nm Pentium4 with 512KB fullspeed cache.
Now I know all P4s run 133FSB (533QDR) for years now, every mobo supports it. Only the Celerons run at the slower 100(400) FSB speed now, and mostly they run fine at 133(533) too :^)
This thing ran 150MHz (600QDR) no problem - and showed Pentium 4 3.0GHz when it started, LoL
I didn't want to run it at 3000 - changed it back shortly, didn't want to squeak it... but I actually backed up a DVD @ 533FSB (Pentium4 2666MHz) no problem. That's 133% speed ;^)
It uses standard PC3200 DDR RAM at very low ie. PC2700 or PC2100 speeds, so memory capability is never a problem - any inexpensive PC3200 will do. I installed 1GB.
Finally: was I going to deliver the PC back to my customer O/C'd 33%!? I had installed a Stealth 80mm supplimentary case exhaust fan, and the CPU was staying cold.
The mobo was supplying the CPU ~1.6v or something; this was non-adjustable. I checked and CPU spec is 1.5-1.525v, so this helps explain the effortless O/C potential on this rig.
Ultimately I decided to set the memory to run PC2700 which is 166MHz(333DDR). Using the asynchronous FSB:Memory ratio setting of 3:4, this gives a FSB of 125MHz. I worked backwards!
The PC posts as Pentium4 2500 now, a healthy overclock, and can use standard PC2700 at good memory timings (if you buy PC3200 memory, you can run agressive timings @ PC2700 speeds).
I have delivered it back, reborn as a P4 2.5 and it's a whole new computer now with 4x the memory (it had only 256MB).
It runs real good and I know it will be rock-solid.
Hope this info helps some overclocking n00bies or anyone new to poking around inside their case, let me know :^)

@Phantom

I've read one article of one individual that got a P4 up to 5Ghz...but, that person used super-cooled liquid N2. The core running idle, I think was around -45F if I remember the article correctly.

Not for the novice OCer.
