Ok...i am just bought my PS2 one month ago and got also the Swapmagic set for playing "cracked" games....i've noticed that i have some problems with NTSC games, meaning that the movies inside the game are not played correctly.....Since i'm from europe when i start ntsc games in normal mode i get an black and white image but the movies inside the game are ok, but when i start the game in PAL mode...troubles with the movies.........And here goes my question: Is there anyway to fix this problem?

PS: please excuse my bad english

What media are you using? And if you want, PM me for a yFiX program, which set's the region to PAL, so you get the colour, and it centre's the screen.

My guess is your media then. Get better quality media. Verbatim, Tuiyo Yuden are your best bet.

Ok, first off if you have a PAL system, and you are playing an NTSC game, you do not set Swap Magic to normal or PAL, you set it to the region of the game NTSC. Unless you used a conversion program to change it to PAL. If you did i would try reburning it without using that program and set Swap Magic to NTSC and see what happens.
I have played many PAL & NTSC games on my system no problem, well outher then the small amount of screen cut off you get with Swap Magic.

Secondly the burn speed depends on the speed of DVD you have.
burn 8X DVD's at 4X
4X DVD's at 1-2X
And make sure they are good quality DVD's and not just some cheap crap you picked up because they worked well doing movies, games are different and require the use of good media
Philips, Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim Datalife, Ritek, TDK

i have burned my Philips 8X DVD-R discs at 4X for quite
a while now, always gives me great results. I use to set it to 1X as that was what everyone was telling me, but i was also using TDK 4X DVD's too.
Once i started using the 8X i had to switch, most games would work fine, but others would have loading problems, game lag, audio/video problems or something else. Then i read somewhere that i should burn them at half the max speed the disc i am using is rated at. Since then no problems. It is very, very rare that one has a problem.
To tell you the truth, i think the actual burn speed, even if you set it to 1X will end up being about half the speed.

converters.
But if using Swap Magic try setting the screen mode to match
the game you have. Like setting it from the default of "normal"
to PAL for PAL games, and NTSC for NTSC games.
As for the mod chip, it should auto dectect the region and play
any game, PAL or NTSC
If it is giving you problems with games from outher regions
then i would look to see if there are any instructions or ways to access a settings menu where they may have a force mode.

Bad thing about Swap Magic, is how the screen is not centred.
