more info, more info, more info!!!

for someone to help you they need to know a bit more about the problem, like for instance:
1. what brand and speed DVD did you use
2. what program and speed did you use to burn it
3. what do you use to load it (swap magic, modchip)
that would help for starters as there are hundreds of reasons why
a game may be freezing
The DVD you used or the speed are the most common one's

Rip the game with apache3 from an IDE DVD and burn it with DVD dec at 4x with SPTI interface.Never use external DVD drives to rip games.
I have burn it to Imation DVD-R(Fujifilm)and works perfect.

Sounds more like a media and burning issues to me.

I've backed up 2 copies (one straight ripped and burned with DVD Decrypter, one rebuild and burned with Nero). So far, both of my backups played flawlessly. I don't know why newbies or some members are having troubles so much with it. The number 1 rule of thumb is to... use high quality media.

<> Taiyo Yuden (made in japan)
<> Maxell (made in japan by Hitachi)
<> Verbatim (advanced azo or datalife plus)

Make sure your burner's firmware is up-to-date, and if your burner is capable (can support) "book typing" then get reputable DVD+R media and "book typing" them into DVD-ROM. Or if your burner is out of the league in regards to "book type" or "bitsettings", then just get reputable DVD-R media, burn it at 4X and you'll be free of worries, freezing, black screen, etc.

Live and learn.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Then just burn it

Do you need to make sure your media is scrated free when playing backups with swap magic. Because I noticed that the regualr ps2 games can be scratched all to pieces and still play right. But when your backup gets scratched then you mine-is-well go ahead and throw ot away. I got D Skins for my backup and I'm gonna suggest every one else to get them some too.

About IDE go to http://en.wikipedia.org and read everything about it.
About Apache3 is a tool created by Sonix that you should visit he's site Backuptools.co.uk and support him cos he have done a really great job for free.Visit the site download it and you'll see if you need more help just post it.

About the DVD disc's if you have noticed Verbatim(Mitsubishi) are much more expensive for that reason, cos they have that extra protection surface like the genuine ones. That's the reason why they cost so much and can be readable no matter what. You can see it with your eyes that Verb's are fatter.
